Same here! It almost feels like all I see around the discussion forums are long time players and pros, heh.
been playing foe about 4 years now but my progression is trash, i progressed the best when i was avidly jamming with my friends but i moved away and no one in my new city plays so i fell off hard. trying to go to as many dama comps/events as possible to get to hang with other players.
Your son is a an absolute BEAST! Props to him and to you for allowing him to follow his passion. I can tell he didn't get to where is is now without major parental support.
I've been playing for a year and I am just starting to learn whirlwinds but I finally got some whirlwinds in the bag
2 and half months but kind of scared because I'm progressing so fast at the moment and scared because I have no idea when the progression is gonna stop being so rapid. I mean maybe I'm learning the right way by watching slow mo's of people who've mastered it but I randomly do something crazy, about a week ago I got a double tap juggle to spike out of nowhere when I was just trying to get the feel of taps. Never hit a single double tap to juggle after that tho .
It's about to be two years on the 29th. Started out with yo-yoing and progressed into kendama. Been loving kendama and the Kendama community so much! I'm a big fan of deal with it right now.. I'm like 24/7 on D↓S, waiting for any new thread, so I'm extremely excited for the app to come!!
Someone first gave a kendama about 2 years ago but I didn't really start "jamming" until about a year ago. Before then it was really just me messing around trying to see how many times I could get around the world in a row....then I found out that there was actually an underground community of devoted players and I was hooked on learning new tricks, it reminded me of learning new tricks on a skateboard, which I had to give up about 8 years ago when I looked down and saw that my ankle and gravity decided my toes needed to be pointing the other way. I still don't agree with that decision.
Hit 4 years in August. Not that good though. I feel a lot of the newer players progress like crazy! Sweets!
