ok, I have a few questions about KROM slaydawgs that maybe some of you can answer.
I have the Nihon ash one. It has like a really grippy paint. The b-day and 3D Don doesn't have the same kinda grippy finish right? Isn't the b-day and 3D Don paint just like an ozora? Which one is your favourite? And why?

    Thanks a lot :)

I only have the B-Day but it's paint is super grippy, pretty much a rubberized paint. I believe they are all the se LOL paint but I could be wrong. I Love the B-Day though, it really took my lunar game to another level.

Only have access to the 3D Don and it feels more rubbery than an Ozora Premium.

BDay and 3DDON have the same paint - the LOL Clear.

They have better grip than the prem Ooz, and the coat feels a smidge thicker than the Ooz.

The BDay has engravings at the stall rings to help with, stalls!
The BDay also has a hole drilled in the base cup, allowing for better lunes.

Does the Nihon ash also have a hole in the base?

Unfortunately, in all of Slaydawg lore, only the BDay has the hole.

    That is, unless..

I find it makes a ken a little less 'solid' feeling, and I don't like the aesthetic. It'll make a ken lunar better, but its easy enough to put together a dama with a heavy sarado and light ken, without having to drill a hole. Also, makes slingers tougher

I never would have thought that it made slingers tougher! Lunars are sweet but slingers are better, and a must have. Thanks for the advice!

The more weight there is at the bottom-cup end of the kendama, the easier it will be to spin it around your finger. In general:
    - If you have a heavy sarado, and light spike: great for lunar
    - If you have a light sarado, and heavy spike: great for slingers
    - Somewhere in the middle can be good for both

In reference to htimSxelA's comment on bottom cup holes, even with the hole in the Bday slaydawg, how good it it for slingers? or would I be better off with the Nihon which does not have a hole?

I hardly have slingers in my arsenal (never been a fan), so the BDay works totally fine for me.
Having said that, i've only ever owned an ash Nihon.
$60 is somewhat large money where i'm from.

I'm not trying to be rude, but questions like this aren't really going to give you a great idea of what the kendama plays like. There is enough variability in the density of the wood species they use, that sometimes you'll get a ken that is 72 grams, sometmes 96 grams. That means even with the bottom hole, someone could easily get a dama with a really heavy spike and light sarado, making it epic for slingers. (or vice versa)

The thing is, on average, the bottom cup hole will do what I described above, but each individual kendama will still be quite variable. In a large production from China like the slaydawg, you're going to have a fair bit of variability. You could get a dawg that is epic for lunars, or one that is epic for slingers, or one that is good for both!

Overall, people really like the slaydawgs, so I'm not trying to talk them down at all, I actually have a Philip pro model I've been loving lately. I have a Bday mod as well that I've been jamming, but it has an off-round tama so lunars are tough on it. I recommend them overall!

Im not a fan of the base hole either. Looks ghetto. and the other pro mods are plenty sticky and big enough for lunar tricks.

Nihon looks classier in my opinion but maple has a better hand feel.

I belive they are all the same paint and shape, but the BDAY has that drill hole for improved lunar balance. Personally, (like what @Cheech_Sander said), I think they basically are the same in terms of playability but you can choose your own Wood/color/engravings to fit your liking
