MKO16, on day 2, I went up against cooper eddy and on the first trick I dropped my dama. After that I kinda blacked out until I was off stage. Never been that nervous lol, didn't even landed a single trick lol
My match against CJ at MKO....we were both choking hella damn hard actually, we went through every trick except 1. We both missed so many times to win (it was 2-2). I don't find myself missing THAT often in open matches so I was like wtf is going on.
I know the feeling...in the Festa this year I lost to the girl who won it last year. She was stone cold, wouldn't even look at me when I was doing the trick she just had her head down and closed her eyes.....match was over in 2 moves lol
Yea, pretty much exactly this. I think it was Keith that was up against a young Japanese player at the same JKA contest I mentioned earlier. The Japanese player landed a hard trick and Keith stoked out, went in for a high five. The Japanese player had already returned to 'stone cold stare at the ground' mode though, and totally left Keith hanging. Lol It was a great east vs west moment
My very first 7 to Spike round at NKR 2016. It was after I got my first point and my next opponent was the one and only Thorkild May. Imagine the stress and pressure when it's your first time competing in freestyle against one if the freestyle kings.
Not too bad of a choke moment, but I was in a heated moshikame-off that got to the point where we had to sit down while moshing. After a while we had to stand back up and I lost it during the stand up. Felt kinda silly for a bit afterwards because I didn't understand how I managed to goof up haha
Never competed or been to a competition so I don't know what it looks like or feels like to either choke or see someone choking
Czech Kendama Open - Open Division 2015 & 2016. i got kicked out in the first round two years in a row. the shaky hands hit me hard everytime in entered the stage. 2016 i had all the tricks down 100%. There were people that bet money on me winning that thing. All i hit that year was a downspike, i freaking missed the downearth. the choke got me when i had the underbird landed on the cup.
A year ago when I competed in intermediate for Tacoma Takeover 2. I had the tricks down and just totally choked in front of Cooper. That was my first comp, but I still choked pretty hard. I am wishing that there would be another comp in Seattle!
Mine was definitely at our last Maui Shop Jam. I clutched the last round and made it top 2. In the finals I just kept messing up and lost my chance to win an emperor of my choice. I still won a different emperor which was ok

On All American, I've been having a similar experience lately... I keep missing the spike from basecup right before the final Earth Turn. It is driving me nuts!
The performance was great until the unfortunate head smack. And it was perfect that you soldiered on afterwards. This performance should be a point of pride in my opinion. You continued to the end.
- KWC 2015 - Told myself that i wanted to go up on the stage, at least via Wildcard. Nerves got to the best of me, only hit like 5/10 of my planned tricks, and when the results came out, i was only like 3-5 points from the last Wildcard. Got kinda bummed, but determined to come back stronger the next year. - KWC 2016 - I trained pretty well for this. Planned all my tricks well, made sure i didn't waste time by choosing the order of tricks in such a way that didn't require me to change between tama grip n ken grip too much, and did awesome in training. Then Round 1 came, i hit all my tricks : UFO (3) Lunar, flip in (3) Lunar flip, flip in (4) Stilt, downspike (4) Barrel roll, in (5) Then, Round 2 : Downspike, down earth (3) SW Swap Spike (4) SW handroll spike (4) SS, dub whirlwind (4) My second last trick was Handlestall, flip in (4), but since i didn't have much luck in the first two tries, i switched to the whirly, and it went in first T. I was ecstatic! Had one whole min left to nail the last trick. And so there i went, wasting an entire minute, trying to complete the flip in. Was pretty morose after the timer went zero, but i was pretty optimistic anyway. Then i found out, that the missed flip in was indeed my ticket to get into Wildcard. I went back home and put myself into "rehab". Promised myself to not enter any major event for the entirety of 2017, until my consistency improves.

crazy how the audience knew when to clap without ever playing dama (im assuming) but also do u think they clapped bc you meant to hit yourself in the ear or bc they were just being nice??
I think they clapped to support me. To give me a boost. To cheer me up. And yes nobody ever played kendama in audience. This was fzrst tine for them to see a kendama.
