@RyanArthurWalker would you be down to contribute? I think we will start doing member of the month in March! we'll do an interview and a modest prize pack like stickers strings etc.
I'm also in agreement with the random member interviews. Maybe choose people who are not only into kendama, but some who have other interesting life pursuits as well. Just to make it more diverse.
I would really like an expansive trick tutorial section, where people can load up numerous trick videos even just for the same trick. It would be cool to see some advanced string tutorials.
Not really what I'd like to see from the DS team, but a cool idea for the community I think: The unicycle forums I was a part of years ago would often have competition threads, usually called OUT the game. Basically you'd get a bunch of people signed up, one person would post a trick, then everyone else would have a week to post a video of them landing it. If they didn't they got a letter, and first person to land would set the next week's trick. I think large games of KEN like this would be awesome on the forums. Could join in late but you'd automatically have the same letters as the person with the most. And callout edits, one person would make a video calling someone else out, they'd make a reply edit and the community would vote on the winner.
Super epic @Daemon edit that would be a very well-done thing with no giveways with damas or apparel or anything and the hood on the entire time, then a masterful reveal at the very end...we need to know who you are!
Hey all ! First off , as a dama dad , a shout our to DS for what these done here and opened a forum type site for ALL walks of Kendama enthusiasts to visit , learn , understand and read about kendama. I've logged in and actually tried to learn something everytime I visit about its history or about specifics or style and design. PROPS ! and to add to the discussion , I've brought my boys to MKO 2x and have had an absolute blast with the scene . We've mad numerous worldwide friends ( families like us , as well as company owners , and down to earth pros from everywhere ) ! I think that either the interviews of pros , or even a weekly forum that is non-comment enabled , but just for a pros profile . Includes.. photo , name , where from , aspirations in life , maybe what they do other than Kendama ( student , other job or career ) . And of course fun things like , first experience with a kendama , favorite setup ever , pets , best trick line landed ..and any other fun items so that others in the community can learn about them . I may be alone on this , but as a father , I'd love to see and learn about the community that , my kids, look up to and love to follow on social media outlets as well . I've started to play , ( un popular to my wife..) but I think it's helps grow this Kendama community in the positive and popular direction always ! As my father hated the skateboard community that I loved growing up ... as much positive spin and knowledge to families and youth as we can get , will only keep this exploding and never declining sorry so long .... thanx again for what the community does ! ...from a still slow kendama growing city of Chicago ..(? Seriously , I know?! ) Friend Chris !
I'd like a couple stickied threads to keep down the general thread count. "(Trick name) advice??" "What is this trick called?" "Which paint do you prefer, (paint) or (paint)?" "What are your thoughts on (kendama company)?" Etc. I don't think these really need their own thread
I too am a dama dad! In my case I play dama and am the dad of an 11 month old. Kudos to our next generations and you for their support!
Ok so the British Kendama Forums used to do these really cool consistency challenge competitions. They consisted of a list of tricks and whoever uploaded the tricks in a row first won, and then that person got create the trick list for the next cycle. Ill post a link here. It looks like this comp hasn't been active in over a year so we wouldn't really be imposing on them by doing it. http://kendama.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,448.0.html
When i click back at "recent posts", i go straight to home page and i will have to navigate to recent posts agn to check the forum
I just checked and am running 1.04 from the March 5th update. So from the home side bar menu with phone held in vertical position ->forums->Recent posts-> click a post, any post-> view post -> then either click the "<Downspike" button on top left corner or swipe back, and I am returned to the home Page. **UPDATE** I get sent back to the home page if I don't click to view a page. If I click back or swipe back from the "recent post" menu. I hope this is clear.
A bi-weekly (or monthly) player face-off. Two players post their 10 sec trick in a three round battle with open polls and voting systems, including prizes to the winner.
