Ahhh nice a matero! I'm trying to find a 100% air dried/unsmoked mate, lesser health effects due to PAHs.
There is a market in San Diego that I would use to get my mate, Andres. They had all sorts of stuff imported from Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, and Paraguay. Best tasting organic I had was from some half Kilo bag. I'll have to find the bag and post a picture.
Hey guys, got some clips from ben. gotta get where you guys from so i could put your name in the comm edit. here are the names: @Nick Lectura !!!! Jess Latta(the around lighty dude) Jake McElroy Noah Fury(dude the clip is a bit blurry but i could take care of it. i'll still get this at the edit.)

Alright guys my first attempt at the community edit is live now: https://www.downspike.com/videos/673 A few things: First, if you sent multiple clips I probably only used one of them. It was great to be able to pick the one that seemed to fit the best, so great job to everyone who did that. Second, I took many liberties with the footage as a whole so I hope everyone is cool with that. Third, as you may notice the quality varies quite a bit. I don't think that's bad necessarily, but I think we can all improve, so I might make a little guide or video on how to get the best clips coming up. And lastly, I'm thinking maybe we'll do this every other month right now? So that means you have the rest of April and until the end of May to get another clip or two ready. Maybe we can have a submission week at the end of May so all the clips will come in around the same time. What do you guys think? Okay, any feedback and/or thoughts would be great. Thanks guys.
That was awesome! Thank you so much for doing this. The editing was amazing, great song choices. Two things personally, i don't know how other people feel so I could be wrong: As I was watching all the clips, I felt like they didn't neccisarily mesh together as well as they could of? One trick to the next kind of left me with a disconnect, l felt like they were all separate and distinct, when I personally like it when an edit connects the clips together, one trick leads to the next, leaves me wanting more. Not neccisarily through editing, just through flow. I'm not sure how to fix this, and I think it was already pretty well done, but that's one of the parts I felt was lacking. ^^maybe give everyone a set vibe? Or maybe even two or three. And then desperate the different vibes with the music. Have one part of the video be very flow, rhythmic, have a couple cool string tricks thrown in/difficult technical tricks. And then the other one was 100% the different quality and formats of the different clips. I loved the solution to that vertical one halfway through, where you put the full clip on the left and then fractured it onto the right half. But definetly give some guidelines on how to videotape. I think that a big thing is that if this is going to be a community edit, you are going to have to deal with iPhone/android footage, so give tips regarding that, how to set it up and get the highest quality. All of this is just the random thoughts after watching it twice, so if you have any disagreements to what I said please throw them back at me and tell me why I'm wrong!
@Brandon Jensen Thanks for the feedback man! I totally hear what you're saying here. I think part of the nature of this kind of "compilation" edit might just be that things are a bit disjointed. On the plus side, it makes it interesting with some variety but I definitely think looking into grouping clips or some kind of "theme" is cool. For sure worth exploring as we do more of these. Yeah agreed. I was planning to make a little vid or else flesh out some best "how-tos" to get decent footage. I do all my video on a super basic gopro and my iPhone. My stuff doesn't look fantastic but I think it is pretty passable, so I'll share some tips and things that I do.
How-to's would be helpful to keep quality up, but realistically, this is a community edit. When every clip is from a different source, its hard to make it not disjointed haha
