It's not wood but since I spend most of my time in an earthquake prone region (Japan) I needed something to hold kendama that was easy to access but not susceptible to the quakes we get all the time. Sometimes they act as a quake sensor that clacks against the wall if we get enough moment.
Here's a cheap/ghetto rack that I made out of paint-stirrers and wood glue. Doesn't look as nice as those premium racks, but it does the job
the home depot has wood stains that make something like this look way nicer. i do it to all my birch ikea crap.
That's a good idea actually! Been meaning to stain my bed frame, so staining the rack too will make it worthwhile
Got this idea from su lab. Just put some nails into a board at an angle. I measured the distance between a normal damas sword and it fit the jumbo and minis.
View attachment 2097 Here's my take on the kendama rack. I like racks that hang damas off the big cup rim because they are the most efficient use of space. The spacer bars I added solve the problem of Kens twisting off or dominoing other kendamas off the rack.
I've been waiting for a rack type of forum .. I have the patent pending on a design that has been in the works for a bit now .I've sent a few out to a few pros to try out with good feeback . Let me know what you think ... I know that there are many ways to hang our damas, and there are very few designs out there . I was looking for a design the would showcase not only the dama, but the company that made them. ,as well as the full frontal style of each Kendama ,as many hang on the side showing their cups . This rack that we have made also stores damas that can display in 3 different views . If you want to have a rack for either prime displaying or for the everyday jammer . Hit me up for the Crint-Rack .
Lots of good DIY racks in here! I've made a couple for the Terra workshop and Dama on the Drive shop. They're 1" x 4" x 6' to 8' pine boards, with small dowels drilled in that the kens rest on. I used a drill press and set the table at a slightly angle so that the pegs angle up a bit, and the dama won't slip off. Works well! @ChrisP.Damahead I'm guessing you're planning to produce those racks to sell? I like how your rack has different display modes for the kendamas. Did you write and file a design patent yourself?
New rack that i recently made with my dad. The main plank is Zebrano wood, and the pegs are walnut. We stained the entire thing with wood stain and it is super rad looking
Got this awesome custom made Damaboard for Christmas!! Not quite enough room on the board for the entire collection but they lean on top of it perfectly!! What’s everyone else got to hold/show off their collections!
