Just wondering what tamas you guys use and/or think are best for learning and executing Boarder's Balances? Thanks!
I got my first border on a Ruisch pro clear tama, but like @Nick Lectura said, any sticky tama will work, such as a cush clear, super stick, silk(once it's been broken in and honed), or the prime clear.
No, a flat spike is the way to go, so it's easier to balance and takes up more surface area on the tama.
If you're ambitious go with the sharp spike aha. You can do boarders with spikes that aren't dull, but it takes some muscle memory to achieve that kind of play. For learning, the flat spike is best.
Raw Ash from Grain Theory is my favorite tama for bb. A broken in raw ash and a frayed or flat spike is perfect for boarder's balance in my experience.
I have this one "Maybe defective" kusa silk kendama, and the paint almost STICKS to the ken. Almost so you can press it into the cups, and it will stay. Its might just be warmed with heat, or sweaty, but the STICK is perfect for boarders...
Any tama with some grip will do, and a flattened spike, like others said. Really though, grab a jumbo of some sort and learn on that. It'll be WAY easier with a taller/heavier kendama
