... agreed, especially show them young asshats that come out of the wood work when their kendama startup is being questioned with their fists up when they have no clue who the fuck they are talking to, their momma didn't raise them right.

Pretty much everything has already been said but I'll give my opinion:

It gets really boring watching someone do an edit just purely of repetative juggle tricks. We get it, you can juggle. I'd rather like to see more complex juggling tricks (i.e. inward juggles, candlestick juggles @RyanArthurWalker , etc.). I like watching edits that have interesting and creative tricks, and that switch up the type of tricks, unless its a specific type of trick edit (i.e. lunar or stall edits). I get that these juggle tricks can be really hard and take a lot of time to do. Sometimes I am really inpressed by them (and wish I could do them). I just don't like constantly watching juggle tricks, and I think many in the community feel the same way (literally most of the replies on this thread).

TAP,TAP,TAP,TAP,TAP,TAP,TAP,TAP,TAP,JUGGLE,SPIKE(mikey schelling really sets the real definition of multiple taps. end it where you started it or from swing, taps, then you end with a spike or plane. i bet only a few number of people can make 7-8 taps without juggling it just to spike it. Isn't that right @htimSxelA ??? the multi taps juggle spike was overhyped because of Jordan Vargas nkr taps. then came the 8 taps juggle from Micah Segura that pretty much think nic stodd's worst nightmare came true XD so he done it as well hahahaha )

The really unclean ken grip swap to tama grip "around the" lines. Something about them seems to ruin the fluidity of the trick.

Yeah this is really bad... when people are playing one dama for months because they dont want or cant spend money for another one. And people throwing their damas into concrete because they cant land a trick or whatever...

This has already been covered but the constant begging/desperation for sponsorships. Granted this is usually from the younger players but the fact that this is such a thing really annoys me - it shows that some people really don't understand the spirit of kendama.

Also when kids/people beg you for free kendamas, or really hassle you when you're doing a contest/giveaway. I don't understand this at all. I get that not everyone has the means to go out and get their own kendama easily, but just straight up asking for free stuff or harassing someone who is giving things away, usually out of their own pocket? Super uncool, and honestly makes me think their parents didn't raise 'em right.

Being 'sponsored' is like the holy grail of kendama for a lot of kids I think. It keeps them motivated to play, but perhaps not in the healthiest way...

I'm not sure how to describe this. And honestly I'm likely showing my "uncoolness" and oldness by it haha. But it seems like recently the trend of many pros and certain companies is to try REALLY hard to be extra relevant or latch certain elements of popular culture and style niches into kendama (from other things). And in my opinion those things have less to do with kendama and more to do with self-posturing and ego. Bummer. Look, if you want to be known as a badass in the kendama community, let the tricks speak for themselves!

While in a sense I totally get it, in another sense I think it is a real shame. And honestly I find myself laughing so hard at certain things, asking myself if it is serious, but then finding myself shocked to see comments of everyone really liking said "style" and thinking it is cool. I swear I'm not trying to be negative or judgemental here, but I realize it comes off that way. Dang. I just think certain elements are actually detracting from kendama instead of building it up and to me that is a bad trend. Oh well. Anyway, I'll probably regret posting this later, but I figured I would throw it out there.

Super long selfie instagram stories (especially off frame, with text saying what the trick is!). To be honest I don't mind it too much, but a full-on repetitive out-of-frame selfie session gets to me sometimes, and definitely trending in the wrong direction imo

To add on to this, people 'joking' when they comment on your post asking for free stuff (damas, customs, etc). Especially when they dont know you on a personal level.

Ben .. I am a father of two dama kids that truly love Kendama and the experience of it . As their father and someone that grew up in the skateboard community and starting to play dama now , I completely see your valid points . As it took me a while to understand and grow up myself , I now see it in the Kendama community that same ego or self righteousness of some .
I take my boys to the events and they are dying to meet the pros and the big names they see on social media They look up to them , like the stars I watched and followed with skater pros or even in sports ;)
I guess all I have to offer here from my experiences is that every pro should have fun and personality but always keep it in the back of your head that you are a type of star or someone kids look up to and will try to emulate at times due to your influences . My boys look up to them and love seeing their videos and posts , just be careful what you want them to see as there are tons of them out there watching :) Most are pc and safe but some are pretty overboard as well with lyrics and cursing ....but who am I to talk I guess ,lol . Thanks for what you do and promote , friend Chris

AND sorry , I really don't want to come off as " that guy" , because I'm not , I just remember him I really wanted more people to get into skateboarding and the scene and it to be well represented so the community would not but a negative in the eyes of our audience that we want to inspire and get hooked ;)
