thanks for the help! yeah i guess it's a waiting game for right now to clear this up. i know there are folks here that could answer our questions too though!
The English page has not been updated with the additional information since this rule change was posted like 20 hours ago according to GLOKEN's Facebook page. You're honestly gonna have to ask Tamotsu or wait until an English translation from GLOKEN comes up cause from the way I'm interpreting it is that things like lunar bands (or literally accessories that can come on or off) will "possibly" need to be taken off, but something that's a modification to your kendama (like you literally drilling or adding weights) are fine. The "possibly" is a direct translation BTW but that's not a 100% guarantee that they'll force you take it off. I still don't understand this rule update/clarification. I've seen people drilling holes but weights? The Japanese version literally writes if the thing is fixed to your kendama (such as the internal being filled up) there is no issue.
Maybe they are referring to the screw on Musou tips, not really weights and such. But that could be considered a modification.
OH MY GOD I did not think of that... -_- Thanks Cody that's probably why so many Japanese players were freaking out and asking them questions hahaha.
that's a good possibility, nice thinking! can't wait to see the english translation so we can get more clarification.
I'm thinking that the Musou tip isn't a modification but "original equipment." Removable modifications sound like the Lunatac stuff, bands and putty.
I'm on the same line of thinking here - the Musous come manufactured with the tip, is part of the design (intergrated), and is essential to the kendama to be of useable condition, whereas stuff like Slaybands are aftermarket parts per se.
I guess it depends if they, KWC organizers, consider SlayBands "shape changing." They do change the shape of the cups though by only a bit.
I think the attachments and junk ruin the competition. Someone who is not using any of that stuff and landing the same things as someone using all that stuff. Seems like the bare bones dama player should get more points. Or at least qualify. There has to be some kind of equality among equipment. Like the tour de France. Or governors on nascars. It's all up to the person to determine who is best. Not the equipment they are using. In my opinion anyways.
I want to be known as the slayer that won KWC with a drilled out bottom cup, a steel nut drilled into my big cup, and rubber cement oozing off my tama attached to the 8 finger string length. Please ingore the imbedded magnets …
That is a Shokendama from the makers of Shinfuji and is an abbreviated shape that tends to run pretty light. I was experimenting with different changes to try and make the Shokendama more playable in particular for Lighthouses and Slingers etc. The bolt went 3cm+ into the spike and really changed the play.
