As far as pro mods go I only really have the Matt Sweets mod. Really fantastic, definitely in my top 5 favorite and most playable kendamas right now. However, I'm getting another pro mod soon and I'm mega stoked to try it out as well.
I agree this is one to have, as it might be his last!! I bought one from his birthday sale (I hope the proceeds that he earned from that cut bought him a round or two that night or in NYC).
KROM Bonz mod. It's my only pro mod but I love the ash, and the slaydawgs are top notch imo. If I'm working on lighthouse tricks I'll grab this no dama no question
Don't know if it's too late to reply to this, but only the kens are maple, and the tamas are beech. I think you did mention this in your SPIKED! vol. 3, but meh. A quick update to my answer: Along with the Sweets 2014 pro models, I really dig the Sweets 2017 mods, the KROM mods, and the KUSA pro mods. All of them are unique in their own way, especially KUSA's because each of the pros designed them to fit their personal style of play.
I gotta agree with you on that. The thing is though, the sassafras tamas on both of mine were eggy, and were a lot lighter than the beech kens I got, so hand rolls and juggles felt just a bit off for me. I also think the same can be said for Mateo's mod as well.
Alex Smith's V4 mod is the only one I own as of now, and aside from a few lunar issues, it has served me well. <3
My first dama I owned was the Wiens Pro Mod and now I've jammed it so long the tip is flat. It's honed for BB tricks
I love the AYNEDTER mod from Grain Theory. It is definitely the best for my play style, and 100% worth the money. *෴* *෴* *෴* *෴* *෴*
Gotta show @RodDama some love too! Maple and purpleheart <3 (pic is from Dandy BSD! Japanese shredder)
Teej mod any day Straight out of the box the thing is tacky as hell. Great lunar balance at least for me, good for stalls, and just overall feels great in your hands.
The Rick mod is one of my favorites to look at! Such beatiful simplicity and minimalist design. Hope to own one someday
