Bryson looked pretty bitter about that 2nd place finish. @azleonhart, should have taken that dama bet bro.
Here are times of few finalists when they played Bonz Atron 00:29:20 Rod 00:33:35 Gavin Harvey 2:21:30 Zack Gallagher 2:44:00 Liad Kotlarker 4:06:40 3rd place Nic Stodd 4:11:15 So Kanada 4:29:00 WINNER Jake Fischer 5:33:15 Logan Tosta 5:37:50 Lukas Funk 5:43:00 Nick Gallagher 5:46:50 Nobu Nori 5:56:15 Bryson Lee 6:00:50 2nd place
Been thinking about this and it actually makes sense. He just got back from a massive european tour and it's pretty obvious none of that time was spent practicing. He actually posted on his story that his first time actually coming up with tricks to do was in the airport before he left for japan. So yeah, I personally wasn't expecting that much out of him
Practice or not, i highly doubt that Bonz would get top three. New gen tricks can prove a bit on the challenging side to the old guard. Most of the Level 11-12 tricks are not made up of stuff Bonz likes. He’s more a stall man, taps and instas are a bit outta his league.
Not sure which 'Bonz' you are referring to @azleonhart, but the Bonz I'm familiar with, you know the guy, he was one of the past world champions and all around dama magician, got fluffy crazy hair...that Bonz taps and instas in his sleep. If you have ever seen him play when he is honed, I honestly don't think he could be beat. If Bonz is in the comp, in my opinion, he is always a threat.
Bonz not into taps and instas? Please tell me you are joking. In copenhagen he slayed taps and instas all the time first t. He is probably the most all around dama player in the world. Stalls, string tricks, cup tricks, balance, instas, taps, juggles, tech, bonz does it all. Just look at his freaking instagram. Gnarly insta, juggle and tap lines and gnarly insta stall lines.
Yea I think bonz was off for sure. I had him in the top ten at least. Idk what happened. But I think he could do any and all the tricks that were on the list. He is of one of the best all around.
On one of Bonz' instagram live feeds someone asked if he was taking the cup this year and he laughed and said there was no way he would take it. I feel like he is more concerned about traveling and jamming out his own groove rather than actually trying to take comps.
@Mr. Von Braun @Ricky Røge @Sirwillcode My earlier statement may be a bit off, but i’m pretty sure that Bonz is more of a freestyle kinda guy. Catch & Flow is more for him, than KWC. Planned tricks are not really his strong suit, i believe. He goes with the flow and slays with his feelings. Even if he’s honed, he still will have slight difficulty to reach the top 5. After he won in 2014, he was never within top 8 of the subsequent KWCs. Sure, he didn’t have time to practice this year, but he had ample time to defend his championship in 2015, and win in 2016, but he didn’t.
I'm with ya on this one. while Bonz is definitely not human, he is not the best at all of the new gen tricks. why? because bonz has better things to do and better tricks to try than all of the tap insta shit. he definitely seems way more honed when he freestyles. same with people like fischer or ben herald. plus i honestly don't think he was trying. the man just went full dama, he doesn't have to work anymore. i'd be way more stoked about that than winning something i've already won before.
man nobu really look upset after his run... & i my hunch was correct hahahaha. dwesty didn't get to finals. ultimate upset for his super fans(except KUSA fam & friends) lol
Hell yea. I didn't know he went full dama so that's bad ass by itself. I also thought he wasn't trying very hard either. But the man has skills and do think that he has his own style and in the free he is able to express it way better. So I think ur correct. @azleonhart
Dwesty not making the finals was fairly shocking. I don't think he expected the level of skill to come out this year.
imo, i think it would add so much time to the event itself and I feel like KWC is more of the blend of structure-esque style of play rather than freestyle. and besides they also have Catch and Flow comp in japan. (Edit: Totally misread the question LOL, No, there isn't a freestyle comp at KWC, but there are some team exhibitions where like PNW, Sweets and kusa did a little freestyle demo) Also side note, the ladies who made the finals?! AMAZING. Idk about yall but Nonoka's run (4:16:05 -ish) was crazy and had me so hypeeee
Yes, there is a freestyle comp at KWC. Limited to 100 peeps (or so), everyone’s given 30s to show their stuff to the judges (Zoomadanke and another). Usually takes place just after the last finalist went up on stage (Day 2), to keep everyone busy while the final scores are being reviewed, but the FS this year was eschewed in favor of the Guinness World Record attempt. HAAAAA when she crushed a series of high level tricks (some of them first T), i went crazy. Then she busted out Ruisch’s Level 12 first T and i lost it.
