*disclaimer-this is not another "what dama should I get" thread*

    Anyway,
I have never had a full natty setup, and I plan on getting one in the upcoming months.

I am wondering which wood is best for absorbing sweat, for things like the tackiness of the tama, and color change.

I sweat a lot (shout out to all the other Filipinos out there) and want to rub all my sweat on the dama, instead of making my shirt smell bad or having to bring around a towel.

Ayy, pinoy squad!! I would go with beechwood. The color changes quite a bit over time and becomes softer, which may help with stalls. It doesn't get much tackier, but the softness definitely helps with balance tricks as well.

Maple wood isn't pretty good for absorbing sweat.

Raw ash, birch, or hickory are my top 3 for sweat absorption, in that order

What do you mean? I have got a maple sanga and I want to break it in. Is It harder or it won't break in that good?

I would totally say raw ash or Red Oak. My krom red oak deluxe was like a sweat sponge.

Maple takes alot longer to break in but when it does it gets really sticky.

When i received my skateply, I played with it all day for a month straight. I remember early on, lunars would slip right off with no room for error. Meow it grabs like a KUSA silk. My maple tama is different texture than my HG maple. The terra was rough feeling out of the box. My HG got more slick the more I played with it, but is now on the verge of getting more grip.

@ksantos if you want quick results, I would go with a beechwood or ash. If you are the type of player to stick to one setup months on end, don't worry so much about the selection because you sweat a lot and you'll spend a great deal of time with it.

Yeah bro beech is the way to go if you want fast results. Plus it get super honed for stalls if you glue the spike.

I would suggest softer woods. In my experience with a full beech setup and full bamboo setup, those woods absorbed all of my sweat and made my tamas super tacky. Unfortunately, can't say the same for harder woods like maple and walnut.

Keyaki, Red Elm, Ash seem to be pretty porous but Birch was the only wood that I've tried so far that paste wood wax (not wood finisher) actually went into the wood instead of riding on top so it might be a good choice too.
