Totally understandable. To each their own. Taste is subjective. What some people like, others might not. Just feels like so many players (especially the younger ones) put too much emphasis on sticky paint.
My favorite is when looking at KUSA reviews and they ask if it's sticky. Doesnt matter if it's a natty, super stick, silk (the last two known for having grip), or if it says 'starts off slippery but breaks in to a good tackiness' or something along those lines. Still ask. Would have gotten their answer if they just read the product description.
On the subject of FIRSTS, and not exclusive to kendama, but people who comment 'FIRST' on other's posts.
when you play a game of ken with someone and they just doesent call their trick and then does: dub pullup orbit, base cup, basecup orbit, big cup, spike, weird ass switch grip, ANOTHER WEIRD ASS SWITCH GRIP, big cup, small cup, around the block x5, 12 moshikames, big cup, small cup, big cup, basecup, sketchy ass trade lighthouse thats leaning against their thumb, in, ANOTHER WEIRD ASS SWITCH GRIP, big cup and one thing that irritates the SHIT out of me is when noob dama players just randomly edit in the sweets, kusa or any other kendama brands logo when they land a simple ass trick even tho they are not even sponsored by the company
I've played games of KEN where players call their tricks before or after they lace, doesn't seem like a band trend but more like an interpretation of the rule. But I can understand the frustration trying to follow another player's trick when they don't even know what they're doing.
To add on to this, when someone (supposedly a new player/especially kids) post a pic or vid using the most basic kendama out there (duncan, toysmith, etc) and hashtags all the big name companies. Or even when they have a dama from one of those bigger brands but still hashtags all the other companies just to get noticed.
Yeah I always see young players especially hashtag every company and pro player under the sun and then they are playing some no name kendama, kinda obvious they just want some attention.
But, have you ever really stopped and licked your natty Kendama? It feels real, REAL good. So salty. So sweet.
Totally. Many new gen players have 6 finger lengthens strings. Liad from ISR Kendamas has a very long string. Not to take away from his skill though.
IMO there are posts that could be excluded from this pet peeve, when I post about kendama club on my insta and the squad insta i'm a part of i'll hash tag the companies we all rep while promoing our kendama club day. But when i'm searching through the hashtags on insta it's a bit annoying seeing posts unrelated to that hashtag
