I am in the same boat homie. It comes out to $17.06 ($21.10 canadian for me). I share the border and yet somehow shipping is always what kills me.
But it depends on whether your parents will actually buy it for you or not. The sad thing is that I'm probably the ONLY slayer here from Milpitas, so it sucks that no one near me has a pin I can borrow temporarily! If I did have a pin and win, I would give the POPs to my friends to try and get them back into kendama because they always borrow mine when they clearly have their own at home.

Nobody said this was for America only.. When you say "shit like this", there have been past DSGS winners from South East Asia, Europe, and more.
Ordering a pin through kusa and shipping it to the US is logistically easier than anywhere else making it therefore riskier to participate if you aren't in america. Making a giveaway without a purchase through a site would've instantly made it available to everyone. So it's unfair through omission.
1. These are shipping lists to Toulouse, France (based on your profile) from Kendama USA. If you think you can't make it in two weeks, then the second option (Standard France @ 4-8 days) brings it up to nearly 14 Euros. Honestly speaking, slayers in Europe have it way better than us, in Asia. 2. 14 Euros for a pin, in comparison to what you can win, is a 990% gain, bud! We run the entire site at no profit, so a pin helps us loads to support server works, paying for the tech wizards, etc.
I get that but this is still a high risk endeavour that I won't parcticipate in. Make a donation system available with perks like featuring and such and then I'll help out.
Most competitions are high risk, this just happens to be one where you gotta spend money to make money. Gotta have confidence that you'll win man. And pins usually run at least $15-$20 so it's not bad either way
Not really! I recently won a #DSGS giveaway for writing about my scene and I live in Southeast Asia. @Gasiek from Poland threw his hat in the ring for that giveaway as well. It's all about not sleeping on this kind of stuff. Plus, the admins did say that those with a Downspike pin would have exclusive access to giveaways...
