2017's about to end! What were your kendama highlights for the year? For me, I was able to go to KG Tuesdays in San Francisco and Jam with the Bay Area crew! Met so many awesome people there! Also, I released my first kendama edit! Overall, this year just got me super stoked on kendama. <3
I got to go to MKO this year which was such a great experience! Not only did I go, but I won first place in the intermediate division which was insane!!!
I started playing kendama in June this year. When I started I thought I’d never be able to do something as technical as a simple lunar, but now I’m landing insta-lunar flips, stunt plane to inverted j stick, tap backs, forward mooncircle to juggle, etc. This has become my new daily and lifelong obsession. Thanks @shonuff_chris for introducing me to this amazing toy. It’s my meditation, it keeps me doing something healthy, and it brings me into the fold of this community of enthusiasts. I only wish I had known about it longer.
I finally got to play some really good games of ken and meet more people that were interested in kendama like me! I also got them back because they originally quit, but now, high school got a little bit better!
2017 has been a wonderful year for me! It marks my first event (TKO), the birth of my dama podcast, and I got my wife to start playing this year!
This was my second year of playing kendama, and there happend so many huge things for me. I've been to my first kendama competition Kendama Clash vol.2 in Berlin and I won intermediate level. I've got sponsored by Fortress which was like a dream for me. Matt sweets watched my edit live and he said that I am his new favorite player and that fortress found a diamond in a rough. I've been to my second kendama competition Stringfest in Bünde and I tried my best in freestyle, and I failed in quarter finals versus Joris Damaguru. This has been one of my best years in my life
This is such a rad thread. So much love here! What can I say, 2017 was the year I started playing so it will always be special. Right now I'm learning and linking tricks I never thought I would be able to do which is such a cool feeling. In October I went to my first event and got to meet all the COTK guys which was rad. I've since gone to one other jam but finding anyone who isn't 10 years younger than me that is also an intermediate player in Portland is proving tricky. Maybe 2018 will be the year I find some homies to play with!
well i have nothing in particular but i think we could all share in highlight/s are: •So Kanada's year (kwc, mko, sweets jpn inclusion in mko) •Bonz's freestyle comps joined (mko gypsy flip & c&f 2nd champ cop) Well my personal highlights are not so big but help & improve my play...: •Back in IG posting with me constantly posting some number of videos flexing my editing skill from a year long hiatus of not filming •1st year I joined a comp getting near to 3rd place... •Well get to reach out more people with kendama in any kind of instances. •Lastly, getting outdoors lately than i usually do...
What a great idea! I was thinking about what goals I have for the coming year, and a thread where everyone can share what they have planned for the new year is perfect
Ooh also! More highlights: Won 3 giveaways this year! - @Ben Lowe's FKC giveaway for a Lobros Pin - #DSGS - International Takeover (i think that was the name of the thread). Won a Thorkild May Pro Mod - FKC 10k Haiku Contest: Won a ton of goodies; I just hope they get here asap because shipping stuff to and from the Philippines is a nightmare.
so many people rocking their first events this year! that's really good news for the future of kendama. some people worry that it's just a fad but for a lot of people that doesn't seem the case, which is awesome! i don't post much, but this thread has so many positive vibes. for me: - first time going to an event as well! i spectated at catch&flow and was blown away by the level of everyone involved. such an experience. - i also had the pleasure of helping out a lot at su lab this year, including getting the krom, kusa, and gt teams to su's two year anniversary event. riding the train like 13 deep with those guys was cool. - lastly, being able to not only meet, but hang out with so many pro players here in tokyo was super inspiring. i was so happy to find that all the pros i met were amazing people who were totally warm to me even though i'm just some low level player dude they randomly got to know. kendama makes families!
