Okay i know this kind of thing has already been addressed here, but I have to say it too. This kind of shit has to be my biggest pet peeve in the whole community. This kid posts this caption on a video of Dave Mateo doing exactly what he does best: making any trick he does look godlike with some of the best steeze in the game. I'm glad KUSA called him out, but I still just cant believe the audacity and sheer "F u" attitude some of these kids have.

When I'm showing someone kendama for the first time and really trying to get them hooked, one of the first things I'll do is show them a Flownamic Duo video or really anything with Dave Mateo, Alex Smith, or any of the OG players with really good style. It's that kind of play that is eye grabbing and exciting even for people who don't play yet. When I show people videos of new gen players doing a million taps and juggles it's almost always a major turnoff for them. These kids are sick at kendama and can do unbelievable tricks, but they end up looking like robots. It pisses me off when people hate on someone else's style, but it seems like sometimes these kids are just hating on style in general. Like any space in a trick not filled with a kenflip or slinger is wasted and makes the trick "EZ". People forget that this game can have a lot of soul and style. Not everything should be about a difficulty ladder and thinking about ourselves as falling somewhere on a "how good am I" scale.

Not to mention the fact that these kids have literally no conception of what it takes to be a real pro player. From what I can tell, players like Dave Mateo or Max Norcross or Haley Bishoff are constantly traveling, organizing events, working on new releases, hyping their company, and always being available for people. Like these people are the public face of kendama and are responsible to like taking care of the community. They make tremendous sacrifices for this game that I guarantee you these kids wouldn't really even be able to wrap their mind around. That's not to mention the people who have started companies like our very own Alex Smith who literally put their livelihood into this game. Like without these people, these kids wouldn't have kendama.

Dude idk this shit tilts me so much.

I feel this so much. I felt the same when a kd in my town said Bryan Scagline’s Scags in the Trap video wasn’t impressive. Kinda death glared him (Scags is definitely one of my favorite players so took it a little personal)

When people film a line but you can see that they are touching both ken and tama when stabilizing a stall trick. Then they say “It may be sloppy. Don’t hate on it.”
You didn’t really land that trick. Don’t act like you did.
This may have been mentioned before. I’ve just been seeing some posts from people(repeated offenders) that have really been annoying me.

Also when people don’t have flow. When you record your trick you should look as smooth as possible. When it’s looks like your struggling the whole time, it kills it.

I agree but I'd also like to say it depends on the trick

along the lines of kids without og respect, I find this is also a problem with actual damas- TKs, ozoras, even tribs or something like that. So many kids have tons of damas but don't even own, much less play, these damas with regular cups, icy paint, and reasonably sized bevels. they rely so much on their primes and slaydawgs (not saying those are bad to play at all), but when you never touch a TK, that just isn't right. So many of the people who made kendama what it is today only played with those damas, and we should pay homeage to that. Now when I say this, I'm not excluding myself, as I fall into this trap of only playing these modern damas as well. Heck, out of my 6 damas, none of them is JKA, which is kinda embarrising tbh. We (kids) need to have respect for everything OG, whether its tricks, players, damas, or whatever else, without OG kendama, we wouldn't be playing.

At first I found it a little disrespectful the way he dissed Dave like that, but then I thought “he’s just a child”. Not condoning his actions and glad KUSA put him in his place, but we shouldn’t get offended by an individual who’s apparently ignorant of one player’s technique and style

I mean, I have seen lots of people saying the super stick didn’t break in well or wasn’t very durable.

But saying everyone hates it a bit of an over-dramatisation lol

I've seen increased hate on the tap/jugglers, saying they're robotic and have no style. Imo, taps and juggles are some the hardest tricks in kendama, so anyone who masters those should get some respect. And for the record, I'm terrible at taps and juggles.

Yes, taps and juggles are difficult. However, that doesn’t represent the soul and stylistics of Kendama play. The OG players had flare to their tricks and did not rely solely on tech tricks to make them relevant, which doesn’t seem so “robotic” compared to new players in the scene.
