I was just sitting around this Sunday and decided to get some practice in ! That led me to taking out my collection. I noticed that I had a few pieces that I put in my display only category of the collection I have some items that , when I thought about it , that aren't in the " custom Kendama" business anymore due to school , family , careers , or just life happening . I'd like to hear from everyone , through history also , what Kendama custom masters do you wish were still in the game of creating .There was some really killer stuff out there that are evident at the various kendama shops, DoTD , Sweets, amongst others ... Who would you like to see make a comeback , or who do you miss the artistry from ??? POST IT UP guys
Was thinking the same thing , Cob had some stellar burns that were dank and so clean . I know he's busy with school and philosophy , but wish he kept his work going .. and I also bought a handfull of Kaya's . His pain was inkredible and his Kensington turned out sweet as well !! ( I have a Kaya I was trying to sell still ... fresh if anyone needs one) .
I have a kayadama custom poke-ball (bulbasaur colored bottom, green semi-translucent top). And I feel like I shouldn't play with it anymore because Kayadama will never be able to make me another one : (.
I really wanted to buy a Bolt Kendama, but I couldn't get enough money before they stopped. They seemed pretty decent for what they were.
Another guy that was on top of his artistry game was Bryan Hansen ( BHC ) his painting was super hype and sold out within an hour of releases coming out . He was also a insane player yet I don't ever remember him getting into the comps !!? We met him at MkO in 2016 , was one of the nicest , chill guys that was great to my son as well ... I think he is trying the music business now , but in the sense of Kendama relevance , wish he was still kicking them out
Jeffery Van Reeven has been pretty inactive with his stacked customs. I'd really like to see more damas with unique woods in the ken. His Insta handle is @dutchkendama Also would like to just shoutout Architect for making some great custom stripes for Sweets. I love the paint finish on them!
Balance Kendama. GVK (Austin Ring's customs). BHC for sure. Mash is more low key nowadays, but still making fire. Whom I miss the most.. Kenco. They will always have a place in my heart and are largely responsible for my love of kendama. You could never go wrong with a classic girr and the white stripes are still my all time favorite.
AFAIK they stopped when Mikey first joined Yumu a couple years ago. They still have leftover product you can buy if you message them directly on facebook or by email, but as a company they’re basically shut down.
Well if we are saying companies that don't really produce for the masses anymore... grip. Grip kendama, hands down, has the best mod for any dama i have ever seen. I would almost sell a kidney to get a fresh gripped yellow Oozie. That would be so tight. I know some people who have one and they are sick. I wish he would have a drop like back in 2015 or whenever he did.
Oooh. I remember grip... rip those damas. they were so sick. I remember in their last batch they did a gripp'd mugen musou... so sick. So. Definitely the lost but never forgotten for me is GRIP, BHC, KenCO, and interestingly, Cobikaze, is probably the top on my list because his customs were so fiyah
Man that musou was insane. And like $400. But I would say it's worth it. Kinda like those luzumaki'd og mugens. The most rare damas with a rare paint job. Easily $6-800. Crazy.
