You lost me on that one. Ken vs Tama are within a gram of each other and depending on where the sarado sits it should be able to sling or lunar. The overall weight is not super light either so I'm not seeing the problem. Does it just feel weird?

Could be. I never said I was the sharpest tack in the box. :D I've heard lots of strange things when it comes to what is acceptable to some. One common one is if the sarado isn't a good bit heavier than the ken they think it's trash.

So yeah, I can be a little dense sometimes. Sometimes it's hard to "hear" someone being facetious (or sarcastic) in text. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In my brain I was already trying to figure out a way to make the "bad" kendama play better by shifting the sarado or adding weight.

66 grams. Not a bad balance between the two, I've just never had something as light as that tama.

Well that's good to hear. Just one of those fly-weight models I guess. Keep us posted on how you like it after playing it for a while.

Ok, a maple & purple heart STRIPED tama. The way you worded it in your previous post made it sound like a purple heart KEN

I didn't really know this was off until I saw this thread, but I got a Mint Padauk that had a 77.5g ken and an 87g tama. When I played it, the tama definitely seemed pretty heavy, but it seemed normal. Honestly, it still slays, so I'm not complaining!

honestly, I love it, and it's my #1 jammer at the moment. Great for stalls, already decent for lighthouses, and extra honed for slings. Love the ozora string, too. The super light tama really isn't having a huge effect on playibility which is good. Cherry on beech is my new favorite sound, too. Look forward to getting some more ozoras in the future (Keyaki, premium white, and light blue ideally).

Question: What is the biggest weight difference you will still play when the ken is heavier?
