I have my eyes on the company because their Kendamas look pretty good. But so far no word on reviews or anything.
I ordered a ash with purple heart Friday brand kendama about a month ago. The kendama finally arrived today and it is the first kendama that I have purchased that is sub par. I currently own Krom, Sweets, Sol, ISR, TK16 and a Kaizen (yes, I love having delightful damas to play!) All of the aforementioned kendamas have been top notch. The weights are good, the wood is quality and all the finishes are 100%. In contrast, the Friday kendama, albeit a reasonable weight, is very poorly crafted and appeared not to be finished at all. There is a small chunk missing on the side of the tama and all the edges, both on the ken and around the tama hole, are rough as if the kendama didn’t make it to the sanding station. I have contacted the Friday company about this but haven’t heard back yet. I will update this thread when I have anything further to report. I’m not sure if this is just a one off. Has anyone else recently purchased a Friday brand kendama?
Yeah, a disappointing purchase for sure. I have written to the company again and included photos. Looking forward to their response. I am wondering if this was just a one off; perhaps a ‘second’ or a kendama that missed the final stages of finishing and quality control. Most certainly it is not worth the $40 US plus shipping that I paid.
The other dama I had ordered from their site was a TK16 zoomdanke and it arrived packaged and 100% quality. At this point, I am guessing the problem lies in the quality control of the Friday brand specifically. I have written two emails and sent photos but still have not had a reply from the Friday company.
What is the word on that ebony Ozora? Never seen one anywhere else...could it be labeled incorrectly?
Such a weird color for an ebony though. I think they may be mistaken for Enjyu, since Yamagata Koubou doesn’t manufacture Ebony.
