Can anyone answer my questions? I heard that the rhino clear destroys the cups after a while. Is it true? And how long do they hold? And are they worth?
Dont know where you heard it but doubt it’s true. Plays very similar to cushion clear and the steam coating on Legaxis tamas. If anything it’s probably just the larger tama enacting more force and impacting harder onto the cups that are ‘destroying’ it but that would then hold true for anything Slaydawg size and up. Most likely it’s the person’s play style that beats up their ken the way it does.
For the most part, yes. Eventually the ken will break down after enough play time, but certain play styles and obviously dropping your dama on any hard surface will shorten its lifespan. And that's also different from ken to ken. I've had beech Kaizen (the original shape) kens hold up far better than other beech Kaizen kens with the same amount of play (some with less play time have held up far worse than the one Kaizen that's held up super well over 2 years of play). But to get back to your 2 questions, the coating on the tama shouldn't negatively affect the ken (unless it's something like truck bed liner or something meant to nearly 100% protect whatever it is coated in). If your style of play doesn't involve high impact connections between the tama and ken (taps, instas, hard spikes, yanks, etc) your ken will last longer than some of those who do sesh their kens that way. When it comes down to it, it's wood that will eventually break down after enough impacts and pressure forced on it.
I've had a v1 since September, and it's held up great, cups are not destroyed. It is pretty seshed but still great. Rhino clear is great, definitely worth it
