Are than any "fun facts" about your dama career? Like maybe a habit you have, a dama you got, A trick you got really early (or late) or anything else original about you when it comes to kendama. For example, I always stick my tongue in the slightest bit when I'm mid lace. IDK why. Also, I've never spent more than $30 on a kendama. You?
Even though I've been playing for almost 4 years, I have NEVER been to any sort of kendama event. This includes MKO, local jams like San Jo Slay for me, and even just going to kendama shops. I don't know why, but this kinda scares me a bit to just realize how much I missed out on.
My mouth is wide open every single time I go for any type of whirlwind. Happens with a couple of my friends too haha. Lately I've noticed that when I do a spacewalk handroll I kick forward with my left foot just between the two tricks. It's awkward but I like it!
dang, you should try to hit up a local jam! You'll probably get a huge boost of inspiration to learn new tricks, thats one of the big things I always take away from meeting new players. Hmm fun facts... I think I have one: The only time I've ever placed an order through kendamausa.com was in late 2016, when they put 90s Sakuras on serious sale. I wanted a red one for my red JKA collection, and so I insta-ordered, didn't even both hitting up KUSA HQ to see if I could get a discount or something haha. I joined the KUSA team in 2012, so its kinda funny to just place an order on their site I guess. Prior to joining, me and my friends usually just ordered from Japanese websites, since they usually got new damas in stock first, and the shipping was the same or cheaper than from the US (back then there was basically just JKA brands, plus Sunrise and a Chinese brand or two).
Yea San Jo Slay's jams are legit 5 minutes away from where I live...now I just need a driving permit to get there on Saturdays...
I went to San Francisco last year to sesh with the KG Tuesdays gang! I was disappointed that Jake Wiens wasn't in town but I was pleasantly surprised to meet newly-christened GT Pro Ben Herald!
2 years ago I was in one of the biggest juggling festivals in Japan (before I started playing dama) and I remember seeing over 15 different props but no kendama. In other words, there were over 15 objects being manipulated but no damas sadly. I made this video on that day and you clearly can’t see anyone playing dama in the background u.u
