Hey DownSpikers, Anybody here own one or the other, or both? Which one would you prefer, and why? I'm ready to make my purchase, but I'm in a slight dilemma on which one to go for. Hey man I was literally having the same dilemma earlier today lol. Just couldn't make a decision.. Sticky? or Rubber? After doing some asking around from what I've heard from a number of different people is that the rubber cups absolutely slap lunars! And since loons are my fav trick at the moment, I ended up going with the Rubber cups. I'm positive that they both slay ( never had any probs with Sol). Now I only somewhat know what I'm talking about, being playing for close to three months, but that's just my two cents !
I’ve got the rubber cups and ordered sticky last night so I can compare next so some time when the sticky come in.. iCan say the rubber cups have been real nice and def slap lunars well!! And the raw ash Tama feels so nice in hand.. I’m newer and thought I would have issues tracking the hole for spikes with the simple wood burn lines but honestly hasn’t been any issue and have actually gotten earth turns more consistently with this Dama than any others before
Have you played them both? Not saying I don't believe you, but it's hard to go against what the Sol players say.. I'm sure both paints are great and I doubt one is "far" worse then the other.. but to each there own lol.
It’s similar to how it’d be if it were painted on the tama. The sticky cups are slightly grippier out the box but the rubber cups break in better and keep its tackiness longer.
I’ve got the sticky and my brother has the rubber, I’ve played them both and I’d say it’s 50/50 they are both really nice.
When these first dropped in maple I for sure thought that sticky cups would be better, but I never got one. Now they are out in ash, my opinions have changed. I really dig that rubber. To me it just looks so much cleaner, and I feel like that texture in the cups would play so well and just slap lunar and light house tricks. I still haven't gotten around to getting one, and I am sort of broke, but the rubber cups is definitely on my radar.

Update: Tueday Oct 9, 2018 The Rubber cups are rad af! Perfect amount of tack right out of the box, or the baggie I should say, haha. I can not wait til it breaks in, for even more slayage! The aroma of a new kendama is irresistible. Now my curiosity on how the Sticky cups play is intensifying. I hope I'll have enough cash soon to purchase the StickySquad before they're all sold out!
