So I did a search to find a thread I could hopefully jump in on with a question, pondering thought, whatever u want to call it.. And @KeeganS your post was closest to my question about delivery services. Let me preface by saying, i’m Not faulting or upset at anyone or any company, just am a curious individual that asks questions.. I ordered 2 different items from Krom over BF wkend sales. First was a Nihon Ash Slaydawg ordered on ThursOrFri can’t remember, and then a V1 JFpromod whichever the exact next day was when they were 50% off.. Both items shipped from Illinois it looks like, as have my other previous Krom shipments. However one(salydawg) was sent via UPS originally and isn’t expected to be delivered till Sat 12/1. The Promod shipped from same location and was ordered a day after Slaydawg and is shipping via USPS and expected delivery is today 11/28.. As I stated not upset or anything just curious as to how this all worked out..? ..and also I notice every time I order from Krom I get an international Denmark fee of a few cents for every order they process even though the shipments come from Illinois..? Anyone shed light on that too? Am I paying back customs taxes from their original shipments from Denmark to the States..? Doesn’t matter if that’s the case, again I’m just a curious individual that likes to know the whole big picture if I can
For the different Delivery Dates i believe it's possible that Krom had to use different Carriers to tackle BF madness and some have different priority shipments which is why some might arrive late. The few cents might be cause Krom has the HQ in denmark but also one in the US - simple guesses but as i work in a post office (something similar) and we have alot of couriers which differ in shipping times
that makes sense.. the whole having to use multiple carriers due to an overload in BF madness on their side and the carrier’s side.. I thought maybe it had to do something with the price of item or insurance on package or something like that. When I used to sell my used glass pieces online sometimes people preferred I used UPS due to their insured packages and how they handle their packages as opposed to USPS. See if the package/order came from/was placed in Denmark I’d understand the international point of sale tag on it, but I order from the kromUS site and shipments come from Illinois, is it because even though they have a hq in the States(IL) they still process all orders from their Denmark HQ? What does that international fee go towards?? Again just curious, thanks for tossing in your two cents and expertise!
Where does the charge show up? In the order total? If you're in the US and you're ordering from a US-based fulfilment site I'm not sure where Euro-tax would apply
It always shows up on my bank statement when I check online.. it’s usually .50¢ POS DK international fee I think is how it usually reads
So its a charge from your bank, not on the actual order total then? Sounds like your bank is just charging you for the currency conversion? That seems odd though, if you're paying by CC
Ahh that’s probably what it is. I will call my bank and see if they’ll refund or what their statement is about it. Thanks for all the thoughts/tips
I agree.. I’m newer and I don’t know all the “rules” or things that may be criticized by other players. Obviously thumbing or fingering the ken on Lunars lighthouses stalls etc are no-no’s But one thing I’ve been wondering, when u do swing up string tricks(like swing spike or swing bird) can u use your finer to make the string taught instead of the small cup? Most tutorials I’ve seen say once the string hits the little cup or is at its axis is when u pull back and get the swing motion. I have however found it easier sometimes to use my pointer finger and let the string swing from it and bring the tama back. If that makes sense..? Is the use of my finger a no-no?? I mean lots of string tricks use your finger when performing them.. Sorry if this isn’t the correct place to post this question
I don't see why not... But it's gonna be wasted motion in the long run. You don't want to take extra steps if you don't have to. Split seconds are immensely important to us. And as for your using the small cup to swing up.... That's completely unnecessary and again, adding extra stress to am incredibly basic trick! Just pull the Ken back, the tama will spin. No need to hook anything on the string. Efficient and purposeful movements are your friend!
Because drama is blowing up there again, and because it can't be said enough... Facebook Kendama Community drama. The idea of FKC is all fine and dandy, but the drama is needless. It's come to a point that a lot of people are afraid to post their content for fear of potential flak.
I don’t like some of the drama there seems to be its a shame(but that could just be social medial lol). Cuz the Kendama community is really cool and lots love it and try to help. I host meet ups in Canada in the Toronto area to build the up the community here and try to spred the word of Kendama to all and get people started on their Kendama journey. But there’s good and bad with everything. Just do ur best and for get the rest Dama on everyone.
I just wanna say thank you to @KeeganS for acknowledging that the blame shouldn't ALWAYS be on the delivery service and more specifically not the person physically bring it to your door. I'm a full time USPS City Carrier (mostly walking door to door) and everyday I deliver 100+ packages along with the mail. Also during the holiday season it's almost double that daily. I fully understand that people's purchases are important to them (mine included) and expect delivery times to be exact. That said, if you really consider what it takes to get your package from Point A to Point B without you having to lift a finger, it's pretty remarkable. Also remember shipping time does not include the time time it takes the seller to process the order. Now I understand accidents happen but parcels almost never go truly missing and almost always make it to the buyer. So with the holiday season upon us double and triple check your addresses and try not to take any anger out on the individual bringing your item to your door! Happy Holidays! #DSGS
Comments like this make me wanna punch puppies. How could you even know about quality on a Dama you haven't even jammed yet?! Why are you even bothering to try and bash a reputable company? Why act like one company has dibs on such basic design points such as dub stripes?!
Things like this will happen, players who are loyal to one company over the others will always have something to say about the rest. Fortunately, most if not all kendama companies are not in competition with each other the way these people think and make it seem like they are.
Lol don't let it bother you. Trolls are a fact of life, only much more so now. The art is in learning to ignore them. It's also likely that the dude may be a kid who doesn't know better and doesn't know that most of these kendamas come from the same factories in China, so similar designs are inevitable. Besides, he probably has less than an eigth of the skill ZMags has; why would he troll so hard on a KUSA vid? P.S. I can understand some of the KUSA resentment though. For years, they've been regarded as the company that didn't go with the "bigger cups, sticky paint" trend (until this year with the Shifts and Slims). Maybe this kid, growing up in this Generation of kendamas, never got to experience an old, standard-proportioned kendama.
