Just opened my new Krom 8yr Bday Slaydawg and there is a HUGE weight difference between Tama and Ken. Ken 87.6g Tama 71.7g This is pretty disappointing coming from such a great company, especially on the unveiling of the Slaydawg V2!! WTF Krom!? Who else snagged an 8yr, and do you have the same problem? If anyone else wants to trade fresh 8yr tamas that are closer to your Ken’s weight, here is the thread to connect you to people with the same problem.
Thats super disappointing. I hate getting those kinds of weights, and it seems like it always happens with slaydawgs. You may have some similarly sized stuff you can match with the ken and tama, such as anything in the sol shape.
Thank you, but I’m going to try and hold out for another 8yr for the time being, especially if this happens to be a common issue with them. Definitely not ruling it out, just trying to be patient.
Super disappointing man! I hate that purchasing mass produced damas is such a roll of the dice when it comes to weights. Gonna probably order an 8yr b day this weekend because I love trying new shapes but we'll see on the weights...
Happens a lot with krom , my bonz mod was terribly matched aswell (ken 64 / tama 75). I bought it at the black friday sale for 50% off, but if i had bought it for the full price i would have definitley been mad
Honestly, those aren't terrible weights, a lot of people actually prefer the tama to be that much heavier, but yeah I hate paying a lot of money for something thats 10+ grams off.
OPs is worse for sure, but anything +10g off is far from good in my opinion Thats the gamble when buying these big brands
yeah true. Just a fun fact though, Rolf prefers his tamas 10 grams heavier, which is interesting, but most people like me and you can't stand that big of a difference. One annoying thing about slaydawgs in particular consistantly being off weighted is that they are bigger, so you can't mix them up with standard sized kens.
I have have 61 gram Tama from sweets that came with a 77 gram Ken. 60 grams, my bamboos are too heavy to match with that.
My 8y just came in, and the weights are effed too. 68g tama 84g ken Apart from that, the cup are gigantic. Even bigger than the 1% or shift cups!
Got my 8 year a few days ago... 68 Tama 77 Ken I know mine is <10g variance, but I really don't feel it affects the play that much. Maybe if it was 20g+ My big issue has always been incredibly heavy Tamas.. 85g+ I have numerous KUSA Tamas that are 100g+ and almost impossible to play
It’s what happens when you go mass produced Kendamas. Even though we complain about it, they’ll never fix the problem. In the end companies will be like, “we’re not sorting through all these just to weight match them.” That’s why I’ve had better luck with brands like KUSA, GT, DWI and SOL since they’re shipping out their own products and they’ll match it if you ask nicely. Sweets does it occasionally but not as common as the ones mentioned above. Remember, KROM’s shipping is being outsourced by another company in the US so there’s no use in asking. To them it’s just an item they need to ship out. My Iji mod came out like 73 ken, 65 tama. Not as bad as the other people here but still... how can you charge like +$50 for a Kendama and not even think about weight matching? Pretty sure the factory out there can add like two extra steps to the assembly process to make the unsatisfied customers happy about their products. Just my mini rant for today.
