I got a Nihon Ash Slaydawg over BF sales Ken 75.26 Tama 76.94 1.68g difference.. seems like I got one of the best weight matched slaydawgs in recent history. It had become my go-to and favorite Kendama at the moment. Paired it with a yellow silk string from Sweets. Has some great birthmarks on the Tama..
It’s such a shame they won’t clean up there game. I am now a convert to playing exclusively with handcrafted, small-batch damas. KUSA Craft, GT, and Sol are all super high quality. Yet to get a DWI in my hands, but if it’s as good as these other three companies, then it’s next on the “must get” list.
You just spent all of your luck in life.... this is like winning the lottery lol. Good luck with anything else haha
I’m a simple man.. if this is my version of winning the lottery, I’m content. Lol i’m a man with a loving lady, a dog, and a nicely weight matched Slaydawg. Just having those things makes everyday feel like a holiday and every meal tastes like a feast.. Haha seriously though this Slaydawg is honed..! I really want a 8yr bday now too to try the new shape. .. and see where my luck leads me
It might be worth mentioning that every additional step or change in manufacturing/assembly costs someone. Either the manufacturer absorbs it or it's passed along to the customer but it's there whether you see it directly or not. Having assembled a few kendama or tried to weight match from a batch of clones I can tell you that it takes a bit of time. Then throw in parts variation and preferences for lunar or gunslinger balance and you've got a lot of variables and someone has to sit down and spend the time to do it. Which leads to this poll: At what price point do you expect a weight balanced kendama?
Just checked my notes as I weighed all my BF purchases when they came in. My Craft Ash Slim had the worst weight matched at 8.5g difference..
Just got a late Christmas gift today.. and Boom! Ken is only 2.54gr heavy..! Luck is holding up for me I’d say
Pretty great imo. Its a fat, chunky dama, and the cups are really really big, but it still slings rather well.
See for yourself. Small cup comparison! The ringstall is def more pronounced on the 8y, and the whole basecup feels alot meatier.
