I like how the spike will come pre-glued according to shots on Instagram and a confirmation by Sol. I think it's only gonna be one layer tho.
I think it fixes the biggest problem on previous sol kendamas, because it has a massive, deep bevel, which is great.
Some shots I just took of mine this AM outside. Haven’t played it yet as I got the V2 FYWxSol collab as well this wkend and have been playing it almost exclusively..
The sticky paint, and new bevel are making this one very tempting for me.. I hope Sol does an updated non-pro series with sticky paint and these bevels— having that sun logo of theirs as tracking around the bevel would be pretty dope I think!!
I think it looks super cool! Love the design and the details that the pro chooses based on their style of play etc. I always think that is the best part of pro models that are truly designed in conjunction with pros. I know the companies that have many pros or a general design they go by are similar other than paint or engraving, but I think when pros put their own spin based on their play and style, it’s really truly unique and personal to them. Like the new krom pro mods, the one has no base cup hole since they don’t prefer them based on their play. Or when hey choose different woods or paints, different tracking or in this case the glued tip even. I think what goes into creating Kendamas is amazing and such a part of what makes it a complete thing, it’s fun, it’s creative, it’s personal, etc. Not sure I’m making sense, but it’s a full circle thing. Just like one of the companies posted somewhere recently. Made by their hands and played by ours, to paraphrase. It beautiful.
Yeah, I agree. The unique, minor little adjustments made by pros (such as the long string, bevel, and glued spike on Lyndon's mod) are really cool to me.
How does this Dama play? Weights? paint stickyness? Size and shape? I have heard good things about it - does it live up to the hype?
Yuppp.. support them bois from KY!! This batch has a new paint on them. The first batch the paint chipped really easily. Even though it was still a good sticky paint and even though it chipped it still stalls and locks Lunars an lighthouses in easily... this new batch I’ve heard is even better. I used one of the first ones through all of February and it is still a Dama I pick up from time or time even though it got thrashed from 28tricks later..
I think the whole thing is solid! Beech Tama and maple ken is a great combo. Still not a fan of the sticky paint but the glued tip and bevel makes up for that. #grandesquad
