thats true lol anyhow to elaborate on my comment - these types of engraving always make me think of china made kens (Sweets, Krom etc mods). I could be very wrong about this but I'm putting it out there: What if GT id doing 2 versions of Pro Mods A cheaper (overseas made) painted setup with the Stodd V2 shape and A standard GT priced us made V2 stodd
Stodd probably likes painted one‘s more atm .. so he choose a painted one for his pro mod now because the last one was a natty ?
To add on to this, yes it does look like an overseas made ken and most likely is looking at the engravings on the ken and the (lack of) sharpness of the cup edges and slip stop. (Here is an actual embedded photo) Also, unrelated but Kelvin Wong posted this dama on his IG story a couple weeks ago and havent seen an instance of it since (maybe others have?) Definitely want to know what it is. At first I thought it had the same/similar shape to the new Stodd mod above but it’s hard to tell since this photo was screen captured in the middle of it blinking in and out of the IG story.
I might be right - this supports my "Argument" and I hope they don't stray too far from OG GT Mods when releasing pro mods like that
I think GT will keep doing US made stuff as long as people keep buying it. That said, when it comes to pro mods it makes sense for them to be priced at a level similar to other companies similar offerings. If GT only drops pro mods a few times a year and in limited runs, the pros themselves aren't actually going to make any meaningful amount of money from their mods. Doing overseas pro mods is a good step both for GT and their pros IMO.
Gt/stood definitely wanted to make it more affordable thus making it overseas. They probably wanted more people to cop/support them in this way. Anyways, I made sure to cop one. Can’t wait to sesh this new gt shape!
I think that was somewhat the point. To have a more affordable, extremely well balanced, extremely playable GT pro model. We still have the KA’s and the BHs!
Everybody check out the new Stodd mod video, at like 3:22 we get a peak at a dama that Jake has that looks like it could be a new new GT.
That's a great point that they want a pro mod to match other pro mod offerings in terms of playability. While we all know that natties are super playable (Ben Herald just won open with one) I don't think that the majority of players really think that. I think when it comes to appealing to a wider player base going with a sticky tama is brilliant. Also, I don't know of any overseas natty tamas that I would really consider playable at the level of a sticky tama.
That's not to say they don't exist. There are so many damas made for overseas markets I've never jammed that it would be idiotic to make that a blanket statement. That said, I don't know any natty tamas produced overseas and sold by an american company that don't come out of the box pretty damn slick.
Right? At first i i thought cause of slinger weight but then i saw the booty hole so the Weight added by "not swooping" was eliminated by the bootyhole lol
That’s Jake’s new GT ProMod with the Grey tracking dot at top like his old grey pro tama from KUSA.. J/J!! I have no idea. I did pause it on that frame to try and Identify it but that’s the best theory I could come up with..!
I think Jake said when he left KUSA he wasn't planning to have another pro mod. I also don't know if he's technically pro for GT since he's an owner. That said, it would be sick if that was his new mod. That was my first thought as well when I saw it lol. I was wondering about this. The swoop is such a big signature thing. I honestly don't love the swoop tho. Makes handle stalls weird for me.
