So over the past little while i’ve noticed everyone plays a different version of KEN (aka PIG, DAMA or KENDAMA) basically where you set a trick and your opponent must match the trick for he/she gets a letter. I play KEN and you get 2 tries on defence and 3 for last letter. what’s your version of this game?
DAMA 1 try to set 2 to match 3 on the last letter 1 prove it per game, must be used instead of your third try. If the opponent lands it again, you're out. If they miss, you're in. 1v1 you hold trick after landing something. More than 2 players, pass the trick.
My games usually look like this: Start and choose if you wanna do a "quick round" or a long one - QR = 1 to set 2 to get LR = 2 to set 3 to get buuut most of the time one player lands something crazy and I want to know how its done so it ends in a Coaching sesh - After a while all players realize that the Game has been forgotten and we try to pick it back up lol
We’ve played it to basically to the rules @htimSxelA posted above. I’ve also seen people adamant about not switching their damas out during the middle of the game and others who are chill about it.
For the record, KEN is for kids, spend a little more time and engage with you opponent in a proper game of DAMA
Hardcore players go for a game of *Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. *FYI currently "the longest word in any of the major English language dictionaries" at 45 characters.
The rules from my old high school here in hawaii: 1v1 - DAMA only, jon Ken po to find who goes first, 1 attempt to set trick, 1 attempt to land opponent's trick, 2 attempts final letter. Although it has recently been modified to where if the tama does not touch the Ken it's results in another attempt Group game - choice of KEN, DAMA or KENDAMA, Play nose goes to determine order, 1 attempt to land trick then everyone has 1 attempt to land going counter clockwise in order (play with all members in circle formation) and anybody who misses is takes the letter. Final letter is 2 tries no redo or retry because everyone just wants to go instead of waiting lol Pink slip - Same as 1v1 except winner takes the dama. I think a lot of people played KEN only for this but I never played it because I like breaking in my Ken's to my personal play style lol
