wondering what everyone's all time favorite artist is. I love so many different groups but I always come back to Led Zeppelin!
I've been listening to Daft Punk all of my life. Love every album! Since my dad was a DJ while I was growing up, I've also become a music fanatic. Close seconds are SBTRKT and Little Dragon. I'm also a huge fan of jazz, rap, and everything else. Except country ... I hate country
My list could go on and on but when it comes down to it, an artist that I don't know one song that I don't love any less than another, it's gotta be The Japanese House. Followed closely by Modest Mouse, Moose Blood, The Front Bottoms, Kendrick, and Earl.
God, such a hard question. I'm gonna say Shpongle They're trance/crazy music always has so much going on, just listen and you'll understand. Makes you feel so good too. Led Zeppelin is on the list for sure haha
Now, Now is my all-time favorite band. Too bad they've been on hiatus for too long, almost to the point where people think they've disbanded. I used one of their songs in one of my edits, hehe. Most of my favorite bands have either disbanded, are on hiatus, or have released new stuff that I'm not feeling: Now, Now. Meg & Dia. One for the Team. Rilo Kiley. Vampire Weekend. Tegan and Sara. The 1975. Kings of Leon. Vanessa Carlton. Michelle Branch. Ingrid Michaelson. Sara Bareilles. She & Him. Mostly indie/indie-acoustic bands, or female singer-songwriters, haha.
My all time fav is Silversun Pickups! Love everything they've released and i think I've seen them live the most. Other favs: Haim, dnce, Tegan and Sara, Chromeo, the summer set, Two Door Cinema Club... there's so many i could go on and on lol
Just like @7Cabbages I have to say my all time favorite artist is Daft Punk. Started listening to them 7 years ago and I've been hooked ever since. Even though they haven't released new albums in a while, I never get tired of listening to the existing ones over and over again.
May be TNGHT i Think, former Hudson Mohawkee ft Lunice, in another style S.O.A.D But used to listen songs of the best edits while seshing to get power !
Imma rap kinda guy so I like Kendrick, Danny Brown, J Cole, Joey Bada$$, Young Thug, Kanye, Post Malone, etc. (The list goes on)
It honestly depends on the genre for me. I go through phases of what music I listen to a lot, but I like all different kinds. Recently I've been getting more into rap, but I also find bagpipe music very relaxing haha. So I'm going to list several genres, and my favorite bands/artists from that genre and why. Rap- Lecrae by far. He speaks about what's going on in his life, social issues, or just makes songs to jam out to. Rock- blink-182. Even though it's technically punk rock, I still like them the best. They've always kept it weird and entertaining, but have had some really deep songs as well. Metal- For Today. Mattie Montgomery is a genius when it comes to lyrical content. Don't let the fact that they're Christian deter you. Listen to the lyrics with a mindset of someone determined to say something about the way they feel. Pop- Quinn XCII. He's a newer pop artist, but I think he'll stick around for a while. His music has a cheery and positive vibe to it that's hard to not enjoy. EDM- The Chainsmokers. Every song they put out is incredible, and always has a different feel than the others.
I'm all over the place with music, I'll literally listen to anything and love to because I grew up with a wide selection of music and a passion of for always finding new stuff i've never heard of. Another reason I love threads like these, I usually jot down a few artists I haven't heard of. I'll copy @Shikey and try to break down favorites by genre. Rap: Atmosphere, I've always had Hip-hop & rap in my life, but it wasn't until I heard Slug that I really felt a connection to anything they had to say. Their work of late hasn't been to impressive IMO though Rock: Mindless Self Indulgence, A tough choice for me with this genre. MSI is a group I will always love though. Found out about them shortly before Frakenstein Girls and have been a fan since R&B/Soul: Jamiroquai. A lesser known group in USA, they only had one hit in the 90's here but I loved all their work and still do. The frontman Jay Kay is a personal idol of mine Punk/Ska: Violent Femmes. I know punk & ska fall into the rock category, I just wanted a reason to tell y'all how much I love the Femmes House: Basement Jaxx. A lesser known house group that's been around just as long as Daft Punk but never had the fame having really only one hit song that was a Fatboy Slim remix. Chillhop: Flamingosis. An easy choice considering I've seen him live twice this year. Just Some Favorites: AWOLNATION, Grouplove, Aesop Rock, The Mountain Goats, MF DOOM, Louis Logic, Apathy, Foster The People, Saint Motel, Birocratic, Cake...This list could be seriously endless... Sooooo i'm going to plug my signature and say that everyone should come hang out in the Kendama Discord Server and share your favorite music. We even have a bot that can stream it for us all to hear in the voice channel. You can also test your skill with the DamaDare commands (KWC levels 1-10 currently available, more to be added this week!!!) If your on mobile and reading this HERE is the link to join
I DJ'd at the local college radio station back in the day, was a ton of fun. Had my own show and played a bunch of obscure (awesome) indie music (back when Pitchfork was primarily a hipster website.) So yeah, I mostly listen to quirky hipster indie music. I can appreciate a lot of other stuff, but I won't listen to it usually. Some influential bands for me: Velvet Underground Radiohead Starflyer 59 Danielson The Microphones Sufjan Stevens The Notwist Animal Collective Panda Bear Spoon Flaming Lips Probably many more, but if anyone knows more than half of those I'll be pretty impressed! And you'll know some of my taste.
Gorillaz Although I bounce around with what I listen to, I always come back to them. Plus new album soon...get stoked!!
