Lots of talk in the community lately about Adam22’s past sexual assault allegations and how women/females can’t feel safe at comps/jams hosted by or sponsored by such an individual..
I was never a fan of Adam22 spreading kendama in his own way, so I'm a bit relieved to see him go. That being said, I have two misgivings about how everything went down: 1. The team. Jesus they are a talented group of players and they just lost a sponsor overnight. Hopefully, other companies pick them up, but this experience cannot have left a good impression on people like Wyatt Bray, Patrick Riddle, Joey Swisher, and @goosetrik. 2. I think this issue is the catalyst which brought about a divide in the kendama community, from which it will be very hard to heal. NJK had 60k followers on Instagram, and I'd wager some people got into kendama only because Adam22 told them about it. As much as it isn't about this issue (yes, I'm in the "Abusers have no place in kendama" camp), people are going to be up-in-arms about how the community seemingly spit out an influential figure in their kendama journey without cause or due process (as @JHard502710 said, cancel culture). The toxicity is really bad on both sides, and I don't see the mutual hate going away anytime soon. Even when NJK crashed and burned, the community was affected post mortem in a very negative way. Let this be a lesson to all parties involved, especially big companies like Sweets and Krom who undoubtedly brought people like Adam22 into the community. Pick your influencers wisely. Growth at any cost may lead to some unintended consequences in the long run.
Louisville, KY represented SOOO well. Benny boy will be Pro soon and def copping his Mod. #louisvilleloveskendama
...don't mind me, just your local Slayer here Just wanted to say that about a month ago, Tristan Go and I both got sponsored by Lofty Craft Inc. for their Flow Team! A month before that, Lucas Sobeck was also sponsored as a Lofty Craft Pro! Some of the OGs here might remember Lofty Craft Inc. for their Lofty Dressing/Soss on a few Lyon Kendama setups like the BHC x Lyon x Lofty Oranges and Lemons and one of their pro mods.
Lol Zay double backed and said there were new things in store for Artemis. Some say he sold the rights of the shape and the fletch clear paint to another person close with the folks at Kendama Depot; others speculate that he may be merging Artemis with another company. P.S. I would sympathize with his mental health struggles but too many red flags have been raised, especially with how Artemis treats their sponsored players, and how the owner is unstable and has a tendency to message profanities to other players.
Yea I think @James Hoang noted on IG that the last hashtag was #NLK newly laced kendama? So maybe sold the shape and paint to them?? Myra I didn’t follow him or the company very closely. Some things just didn’t seem right.. and not because of his choice in jewelry, which he seems to be stating is the main reason he is leaving kendama. People making fun of him for wearing chains!? I don’t know. I don’t know him and wish not to judge him.. *Side note. Watched your new Edit the other night and Loved it dude!!
Wyatt Bray is now pro for No Jumper Kendama. From being canceled to having one of the best players in the game on their team. Classic "Phoenix from the ashes" story.
Yesssss!!! What a great squad to be a part of too!! And from your homeland of the Philippines too right!? Congrats my dude, u deserve it, your flow and skill tricks are always fun/great to watch..!
Thanks Jon! Means a lot ^_^ I'm especially proud of doing all of this from the Philippines. Almost all sponsored kendama of Filipino descent are from abroad (mostly in the US); the only exceptions to this are myself, and the players sponsored by @goenKendama. One day, I hope to go travel abroad and jam with y'all! ^_^
https://www.instagram.com/tv/CT7-Heihysu/?utm_medium=copy_link …oh yeah, did I ever tell you guys that I went pro for Lofty Craft Inc on September 17th?
