I always test tackiness, lunar/sling balance, and weight whenever I get a dama. I never glue my spikes and I don't really know why. The first tricks I do are Pull Up Spike and Around USA then I try stalls and balance tricks. Sometimes I keep a dama fresh, depending on how rare or expensive it is, but that didn't happen to both my Mugen Musous lol. What are you guys' freshie routine?
I'll sling it around my finger a couple times to see if it's good for slings and then do around USA. Maybe some other basic tricks like 1 turn house or something. I usually just jam it regularly after USA. Then I glue after a while so the spike doesn't dull but isn't super sharp at the same time Edit: I also cut down the string size so its about 3 fingers
My freshie routine is: 1. trying hard not to let it fall on the ground 2. unintentionally letting it fall on the ground 3. hating myself for the rest of the day
I like to jam an around USA, then check for lunar balance. Once that's all good I start throwing down spikes to start to break in the tama if it's a natty.
Routine is taking lots of pictures followed by stringing it to my length. Then test balancee and juggles
I'm guilty of going out and taking photos before playing my kendama haha. Once i start to play it, I'll give it a couple test lunars, slingers, and do a couple swap spike tricks.
(Not in any order) Check string length/change string Tama and ken weight Lunar balance/tack/grip Glue spike After all that is done the first tricks i usually do are handrolls (how i check balance of ken and tama weights) and one turn lighthouses. Maybe try a lunar or juggle to big cup
My routine for getting new KUSA gear in: - Don't take photos - Beat the crap out of it - See other KUSA teammates post sick photos of their new damas - Woops ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
First thing that I do with a fresh dama is restring it (I'm left handed). For the past handful of months, my go to trick would be either a one turn Lighthouse or a swing up small cup bird.
AYEEEE! Haha I actually do this a lot. I also just try lunar, test string length, then put it on spike, YANK, don't feel too bad, then just get to shredding it.
Normally check the sticky/tackiness. Then I'll check the lunar balance, then do a couple of slings. After that, I jam it for around 45 minutes.
Right when I pull it out of he box, I usually restring it to around 5-6 fingers. Then from there, I like to check lunar balance, weights, paint, etc. Then I fail at lacing
