I have seen a thread relating to types of strings but i did not see much info regarding much detail regarding the quality or playstyle of some. I bought my first kendama 2 weeks ago, A kaizen KUSA, burnt orange matte. It is a beautiful kendama, plays well and is smooth. The paint is breaking in perfectly but I am running into an issue with the string..I think it is nylon? Its constantly becoming tangled even on a single big cup to small. Its torn at the base slightly too already. I wonder what types of strings are best to use in prevention of tangles. I do not know what types are out there, any tips or advice is very appreciated!
Well, I think Damamods and Sweets and probably others makes strings out of silk or something. Those don't tangle up really. Alternatively you could buy yourself some spinners from Damamods. You basically throw away the bead and put the spinner on instead, and it drastically decreases the amount of tangling. I would recommend them, though I think they are a bit overpriced (not too bad though). Get yourself a nice string pack from KUSA and some damamods spinners. You should be pretty set after that
@bonerkid oh awesome! I have seen the bearing in a review of the slaydawg that @Ben Lowe did but was unsure if it would improve the play all that much. Thanks for the tips!
I would suggest buying the bearings online, i got 10 for 5 bucks and then getting some lovely knots 1mm string,as well. Both super cheap super great.
