I was curious to know how many of you position the knot of your string under the Sarado (inside the Sword) or exposed (beneath the Sarado)? For a long time I used the recessed hole in the sword to store the knot. But for some reason or another, I stared to place the knot outside of the sword below the Sarado. Just curious to know what you prefer and why?
Inside the cups. It weirdly bothers me when it's not. If there isn't a dip for the knot I'll make one haha
i don't have a preference personally, though aesthetically i would prefer to have them all on the inside, however some kendamas don't come with those divets for the knot
I usually end up pulling the knot down just beneath the Sarado. A lot of people don't like it because of how it looks but I feel my Sarado stays on nice and snug when I do.
I usually keep it below (outside) the srardo. No real reason, looks maybe? I guess it can be a tactile reference point when playing and switching grips.
I always try and use the recessed string hole if there is one. Sometimes it's way too small for the knots I tie, so that's when I let them hang outside the sarado. I just prefer to not see the string hanging out
JACs don't have string holes, so I came to really like it outside. Now I'm trying to play with longer strings though, and idk if it's my knot tying skill or what, but I need every bit of length I can get to make it over a tight three fingers these days. ...#phrasing
Inside, but maybe if I had a flashy colored string, restrung it under a full moon and my tama hole faced north during the whole process and a neat slip knot I might want it outside the sarado.
I haven't had the problem with the regular size kendama but putting the knot on the outside, below the sarado, has caused the sarado to loosen more quickly on larger kendama. When the tama snaps to a stop the tension on the string pulls the knot which, because it's below the sarado, pulls up toward the kensaki/spike.
