Thanks to everyone for making this thread blow up! Means a lot to me! I have yet to cop a Kururin for myself but i'm definitely gonna be ready for when they drop again on KUSA or when they first drop from LoBros!
KUSA drops them again on January 20th for all interested. And to add on to what everyone is saying, they look boring as hell, but are surprisingly fun. Worth the $15.
I threw some different types of tricks together: Didn't figure I should post in "videos" since it is not kendama.
Now that I have one of my own I barely use it. But that's probably just because I dont have any room on my desk. It's just a fun thing to do every now and then, for me at least
I honestly think one by itself is a bit boring. But if you add other objects, multiple kururin, games with others -- then it becomes way more fun.
I have a lot of fun with it. I can get my gal to play in tandem but she won't touch a kendama, pill, cone or yoyo for that matter. I have more fun playing in tandem than alone. It is way more challenging than it looks.
I never thought I'd ever get one, but I just did off KUSA's site. Brought it to work today and let my 5/6 year old students play with it because I didn't want to teach hahaha (I teach preschool.) I'm actually surprised that they picked up the basic skills relatively fast! Here's a short montage of clips I put up on ig of them playing: https://instagram.com/p/BQUgOdBg_c4/
@Ben Lowe Should I get two kururins they look like fun and I think I'm gonna cop one today. But if I should get two tell me.
I personally really enjoy playing with more than one at a time. I think it opens up a lot of fun stuff to do with either two at the same time or using one with each hand. Also you can play with someone else on the same table, pass them back and forth, or just share more easily. That being said, if you're not sure if you're going to like them or haven't played one before, it is never a bad idea to start with one and see what you think, picking up a 2nd one later if you dig it.
Just went to the kusa warehouse and got a two pack. I got the basic thing first try these are so much fun.
sweets jammers will be restocking soon with a larger release. I believe that they will be 10$ each and they are the same size as the muku-studio (Kururin brand) ones so if you already have one of those, it will work great together. the pads on the jammers are pretty sticky too (compared to muku-studio), so you can land those ghosts no problem. i was at a demo yesterday and there was a kid there who grabbed the jammer and got a 7 turn ghost and then an 8 turn ghost within his first 5 minutes of ever playing with one! i would definitely recommend picking one up when they drop!
Big pic fresh out of the box wenge Jammers. Top is with coconut oil. Bottom is after rubbing beeswax to seal. They come in a plastic "zip loc" type bag with each pad having a protective clear plastic for removal before jamming(applied by sweets Kendamas) then each was individually placed in a burlap sac. Left: 35.4g Right: 33g They came in looking and feeling fresh off the mill! The paint obviously wiped away. I'm not worried at all because it was bound to happen (paint feels like a stamp, not airbrushed). Grain definitely darkened after the oil was applied. After this pic was taken, I completely wiped away the paint by adding a bit more wax. But boy does it feel like a great piece of exotic wood after the treatment! All in all, they are beautiful and roll fantastic!!!
