Hello there I wanna buy a new kd but i can't choose between rubber grain from sweets and silks from KUSA
I vote for the silk as well, once I started jamming one I started liking the silk a lot more because it gives you a little more wiggle room.
In my experience, when I play silk, it kind of peels or something and when it peels it starts to expose a layer of paint that's hella glossy and with rubber, I've been playing for months now and it has been the same grippy paint. No peeling like silk. So I say rubber
If you're talking about the grains that just came on the new Sweets Primes, then you have to go with Sweets - it's a gloss paint with tack to it - perfect for adjusting lighthouses and still tacky for lunars. Not as tilty and grippy as the cushion clears. But if you're talking about the rubber grains (which I'm pretty positive you're talking about) that were released on the old F3 shape, I honestly don't think there's a huge difference between those and the KUSA Silks. Both of them are factory rubberized paint, probably from the same if not similar overseas manufacturer. I've had good and so-so experience with KUSA Silk. It still is a great paint finish, but sometimes it's not the most durable, and my first kendama ever is almost unplayably icy now, with all of the silk finish peeled and beaten off. I do think it depends on the color way weirdly enough. Or sometimes you just get lucky/unlucky. I'd say if you don't own a KUSA yet, get a new silk Kaizen 2.0. But honestly, I prefer the new product offerings from Sweets in general. Maybe you can get the silk 2.0 and then later buy a Sweets Prime or something.
