I was wondering if any body has tried both of these and have an opinion on which is better or more durable.

I don't really care for gluing my spikes. It creates so many craters in the tama during tricks that don't take too much effort. The superglue really makes your spike super hard and I like when the spike dulls with play.

I prefer mugen tips, however. The mugen tips stay fresh while also not doing a lot of damage to the tama, since it is like a bullet tip. They also especially look good with certain set ups. I've heard some people say they don't really like mugen tips since it makes it harder to border but I never really border any way so it isn't a big deal to me.

I've been gluing more and more lately. Usually I'll jam the dama a bit, then sand the tip to make it rounded (if it was flat) and then glue :)

I glue my tip usually but have always wanted to try the Musou. Is there a video out there that shows how to mod a regular kendama with a plastic point?

I've seen a couple people make youtube tutorials, I don't know which is the best tutorial of them though.

I haven't done it myself, but as a quick guide:

    1. Make sure the tip of the kendama you're going to mod is about the same diameter as the tip you're going to put on it (so they line up nicely)
    2. Very carefully saw off the tip of the ken- make sure to get it clamped and set up in a way that lets you easily keep the cut straight. If you cut at an angle, you'll be left with a gap when you put the spike on
    3. Once you have it sawed off flat, carefully mark the centre of the cut, you'll need to drill a hole there. Use a nail or a bit drill bit to carefully start the hole dead-centre, so that once you drill it for real, the drill bit will track to the centre easily.
    4. I don't know the exact size of the bolt you'll need, but I know it is the 'tighter thread' type of bolt. You can probably buy it in 'ready rod' form at a hardware shop if you can't find a bolt the right size, in either case a hacksaw will chop it down to size. (Maybe someone in here will know the correct size to use)
    5. Find a drill bit that is just a little bit smaller diameter than the bolt, and drill the hole centre.
    6. Thread the bolt in carefully (seriously, you get like one, maybe two shots at this. Wood doesn't re-thread well!). You can add a little bit of wood glue to the bolt to lock it in place.
    7. Put the tip on!

Thanks @htimSxelA but which would be the best Delrin, polyurethane, polycarbonate, or something else for the tip?

Hmm I'm not sure, I guess I've mostly just seen people buy extra musou tips, and use those. Not sure exactly what they're made from.

I would choose Delrin. It's a nice durable material that is used on my downhill gloves for skateboarding.

I have a full delrin KendAlex Plastic, its pretty rad. The musou tip isn't delrin, its a softer plastic I think
