Found this OG red Ozora on the skilltoyz website. Going for ~ $38 Really want to get it. Thoughts on the OG?
I stopped buying the reg ozoras after they stopped the OG paint formula. There's a reason people love em! Black package can be OG, white is for sure. If you can get a look at the tama bevel of a played one, that's the easiest way to discern whether it's an OG or the newer paint formula. Newer formula usually has a white primer layer, while OG has a sort of characteristic way the paint chips away a bit
I've only played ozora natties, premiums, and customs (roots custom & terra battlescar) so I'm very interested in seeing how the OG paint formula plays.
I mean, it's great, but these days, it's not as relatively amazing as it used to be. Back then it was THE paint, now there are a bunch of good options out there. Still a good one for the collection though, def recommended
THE SHIN FUZZY a hidden gem not a lot people know about existed. Fun fact: the owner at Gunnzo (Dama/yoyo/vinyl toy art store) here in San Diego is the reason they were made. She's close to some people there (don't remember relation) and asked if they can make a full sized version of there fuzzy mini kendama.
Wow. Reading this entire thread just seriously helped my knowledge of kendama history! Very interesting to see these changes in companies and I want to see how it will turn out.
Today at Toy Fair I met a Japanese guy who works for a company that is bringing a new JKA dama to market sometime in the coming months! (Not gentosha, they made the mini with the red recommended seal) Asked about seal colour, sounds like it may be blue, not 100% confirmed yet though
@htimSxelA The Velour-like Shinfuji they call a "soft catch." I've heard it's great for late night stealth sessions without waking the house.
