Im thinking of purchasing a kotodama from pnw but with all the new damas out, most of which I've bought, I'd like to know how they play. I'm wondering what the shape could be best compared to and how you like yours if you have one. Any replys are appreciated considering I probably don't have a lot of time to decide. Any other info you may deem useful is appreciated as well. Thanks guys!

It's absolutely beautiful but I've got so many nattys it's hard to justify the purchase. I have two fresh gts and an 8/10 Bloody Mary I'm seshing right now so I'd have a way to go before I got around to playing it.

Ha ha I started a thread about these last week but it didn't get any traction:(

Anyway I'd love to know more about them compared to other premium kendamas etc

Can't really justify getting one myself but very tempted seeing as they are still in stock!

I've been able to briefly jam one and I remember that it was a very solid, hefty, and heavy feeling kendama - from what I can recall. They certainly are nice looking! But I understand that it's hard with all the new drops happening left and right! I myself would love to cop one in the future, but I have way too many kendamas too. :p

Someone (megane0244) posted a picture of a Kotodama next to a Sweets prime on IG today and the cups are very close in size.

Definitely getting an old school shinfuji vibe on the koto sarado!

So tempting, I really want to try a hickory 'dama!

Really? Hmm I was actually kinda hoping that it would be JKA-sized cups, since it is advertised as a 'standard size' kendama. I like mid-size damas, but was looking forward to this one as a more legit OG throwback shape. Ah well

Alrighty guys! Finally had a minute to take a few pics of the kotodama next to a JKA official dama(my keyaki Ozora). The Koto is slightly bigger than this Ozora. To me it's not by that much. Overall I would recommend snagging one Bc they are hella balanced. And what I mean by that is this dama is very well rounded for all kinds of tricks. It surprised me Bc I thought it was going to be icy like a lot of natty's are at first. Seems the hickory ken and its grain have just the right amount of grab to balance perfectly on the tama. Whether it be for lunars or light houses. The first thing I did with it after I opened the package was pull up to inward lunar and I sat there in amazement as it locked right in. Love the stripes as well, they really catch your eye for tracking and I'm sure with more play the padauk will change color :) haven't weighed it yet but if any one wants to know anything else just ask!! Have a great day and slay on y'all! image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

I would suspect that these PNW's will eventually break into a nice grip seeing that the tama is made out of birch wood.... every birch tama I have owned has broken in fairly quickly and has obtained a nice grip.

    Just got mine in!

It arrived in a bubble mailer that was pretty beat up, but the dama inside survived. Package contents were one kendama, and the invoice. No packaging or other extras came with it.

Dama itself looks solid, will begin beating the hell out of it tonight during our weekly Jam Night!

That does look nice, but would like to see a little more in the way of packaging from pnw! Fingers crossed mine make it across the Atlantic okay.

@htimSxelA did you slay it to pieces?

I picked mine up from the post office Saturday after coughing up the customs charge:(

I'm not a kendama thrasher and am usually quite easy on my 'damas at first, especially if they are also aesthetically pleasing like this one!

    Thoughts so far:
The tama is fantastic for tracking and that the padauk wood is also visible in the bevel and hole help too. The birch tama and hickory Ken grip each other nicely aswel.
The balance seems very nice even without the sarado jammed down. And after some play I got the scales out and found it's a dead on 73g Ken and tama (lucky me!)
The big and small cup are probably about a rim bigger than JKA standard although base cup is much closer in size.
All in all I'm very happy with it.

Mine has gotten a bit of play but nothing too serious yet... I've picked up quite a few epic damas lately, so there have been a lot of fresh kens to jam! I'll post some updates once I've beat on it

i'm gonna chill out and get a couple more dawgs before i try out a Koto.
Design looks awesome, and stoked to eventually get one!

(you-must-be-fun-in-parties fact: "Koto" sounds similar to "Kotor" in Malay, meaning "dirty". The more you know.)
