Any pros (or anyone) that have the SlayDawgs, how's the paint on these? Also hows the shape of it? Was really hyped to cop, but now I have to wait for November 1st haha.
Paint is grippy, shape is basically just oversized cups, max playability. Tama slightly larger, but the ken is around the same height still. Overall, very prime! I have one or two I've been jamming hard since KWC
I set up a KROM Slaydawg (6 Year Birthday) today. I had so much fun jamming it, I actually lost track of time. The paint is definitely very grippy, but still allows a little slip for correction. The hole in the base cup definitely seemed to help with Lunars; I am trying to be more consistent at One Turn Lunar.
Played with one today, and I'm starting to regret not hopping on the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. The person's I was playing with said it reminded him of a whiskey musou (if you happen to know what one plays like). The paint's not sticky but it has just enough grip for a trip lunar flip to stick without wobble. I was hitting some pretty gnarly inward lunar tricks within my first few tries on it. I recommend you cop (but only after I buy first!)
We have two here at the DS office for giveaways (so I haven't played them) but they seem exactly as @htimSxelA said. REALLY sticky at least fresh out the box and also the paint job makes so much sense for tracking. The red "NO" dot on the reverse side of the Tama tells your hind brain before you even think about tracking the white ring haha
I'm about a week in on the SlayDawg and the paint is definitely breaking in and getting a lot less grippy (also might be because it's freezing in my house right now). I have a few big dents/chips in the paint already from some hard drops too. We'll see how it holds up over time. So far still liking it though.
Bump! Decided to pull the trigger on a fresh Nihon Ash slaydawg my friend was selling. Was able to buy it for below retail. How is it? Is it worth $50 (the price I bought it at)?
