I'm from VA and slowly but surely kendama is gaining popularity here but I've noticed the closest event has been in TN. It'd be awesome to get an event on the east coast sometime to boost the hype. Anybody else on the east coast agree??
Battle at the border in TN would be closer, I'm looking for events in VA but no doubt would I love to go to any event honestly
If you're looking for events, do check out the Events forum too! (It's listed under the forums tab) There used to be a crew of kids that played in VA beach, search 'kendama 757' on YouTube to find them. They aren't active anymore, but there is some dama history in your area. And of course, you can always get your homies together and organize an event of your own! The TN battle started as just a group of homies, it took a few years to grow to what it is today! (I'm gonna leave this in the sesh forum, since it is a more general Q, and not a specific event)
I actually found their videos when I first got in to dama, trying to find people to jam with but couldn't get in contact. I'm from the Va beach area and me and the homies actually started a 'Kendama Korner' at our buddies vape shop but it was short lived. Maybe we should try and start it back up now that we have enough damas for others to play as well.
I'm from NJ, and I know that @RyanArthurWalker is from D.C. Maybe you guys could connect because I think it'd be closer than TN lol.
Hey man, Battle at the Border is an amazing event to experience. The biggest on the east coast/Midwest to my knowledge are those and Dama in the D. This year Dama in the D is on May 6th and it's absolutely worth the trip if you can find a way to make it. You'll be so inspired by the end of the weekend you'll completely understand what I mean. Really cool to hear about different scenes growing on this side of the country though.
I'm in Huntington, WV, and I agree. I really wanna make it to Battle at the Border this year and maybe even Dama in the D, but it's almost a 6 hour drive. I've got one friend who's seriously into dama too, and aside from that, the closest person to me I know of is @Chad Covington in KY.
Yo i live near fairfax va and I'm trying to get a kendama cookout going this summer. I've never seen a kendama event around here either and now I figure if I want to sesh I'm going to have to create one myself! Let me know if you're interested.
