For spring break, my family and I are going to San Diego! Are there any consistent meetups/shops/famous sesh spots? Coming from a place where I'm the only one who knows what a Kendama is, I would like to see some other people who share my love for the toy! -Cheers, and have a great day
Gunnzo is down in SD! They sell all sorts of toys, designer vinyl, etc. But they also carry damas and yo-yos. Definitely where I would check out if I was visiting there!
Phil's bbq is lip smakin good, must have if your in the area... damn I wish I was in SD right now. https://www.yelp.com/biz/phils-bbq-...tm_campaign=status_quo_sheet&ref=yelp-android
Find the sleaziest Mexican food place and grab some carne asada or California burritos. Ho chi mihn trail gives some great views of the sunset but depending on the rain could be slick, and a little hard for people not into a little Rock climbing Of course you should go to sea world, the zoo, and the wild animal park. All of those are like full day trips though. Spend some time in the bay, maybe rent some paddle boards or just chill. Balboa park is amazing. Tons of cool museums, also just really fun to walk around. It might be a bit far depending on where you are staying, but Julian is this cute little mountain town with the best apple pies anywhere. Julian pie company. I'll update this if I think of anything else. Also I just realized this didn't answer the question sorry.
In old town "tourist town" you'll find Gunnzo. Great place to sneak away while your parents sip on margaritas and enjoy the live mariachi in the plaza. Bring your money and give them a call ahead of time that you are flying in. They'll hook you up!
You get good rates at mission bay aquatics. I bought a package deal there (still have one more session waiting for me) and you get a student discount. Again, give them a call ahead of time. They won't give you a bigger discount, but they can fill you in on what they have to offer. Best equipment! They have these fanny-pak life vest that won't cramp your style while you hit those lines on the board.
It's still in progress xD Unfortunately the only kendamas I've found were at Gunzos. But I picked up a few, so it's all good
The trip is officially over xD It was a lot of fun! A lot of great food, great views, great kendama time! If you wanna see more, I'll shamelessly plug my IG: https://www.instagram.com/aaronjk37/ (snap is the same too)
I know that there is a pretty big scene in San Diego, but don't know where to find out about the weekly or monthly events that go on! If anyone has any details hook it up! I want to make this a general San Diego sessions thread, so if people come here searching for it, they can find out where to go!
