Imagine if the whole COTK squad got together, teamed up with a company wether it is grain theory , kusa, or the RWB workshop, and made a dama ! I know this isn't going to happen but it would be dope. COTK is a great team and each of them have a unique style. If they all teamed up and made a dama how sick could it be. I bet it would slay. Let me know what you think about this idea ??? Have a great day and keep slaying
To be honest, I kinda like the fact that they're a team of absolute shredders, and not a company, it seems more pure that way.
I feel like the #braymod is pretty close to a COTK mod. I mean not really, but it reps COTK hard which is the closest thing right now.
I remember in the mid 80s in Va Beach there were different skateboarding "teams." One of my favorites to skate with (and watch) was SUBCULTURE. On the team Keith (cannot recall his last name) rode for Santa Cruz and OJII wheels (he was pure style like Hosoi), Bruce Ives (rode for Alva and was punk as hell while skating always bending the sickest method airs or kicking furious Judos), Mike Boney (no sponsors, but had the most stylish g-turns EVER in skateboarding, plus a slew of oddball tricks always packed with pizzazz), Dom (no sponsor but a real "power" skater - every trick was 100 miles an hour and the ramp would shake when he smacked his tail on the coping), Greg Smiley (he was a technical machine doing airwalk double finger flips and 360 Judos to 1 wheel manuals and other insane stuff with robotic consistency) and an unsponsored guy named Mike Vallaley who moved down from Jersey and soaked up a little bit of everyone else's styles from the team. Mike went on to go Pro for Powell Peralta and has been pro coming on 30 years now. But for me he is the least memorable of that team. I loved just that there was this group of local shredders killing the ramps and curbs and ditches. Just a group joined not by the same style but by their love of and dedication to being kick ass skaters. COTK reminds me of THAT. I hope to see more similar crews form as kendama grows. That's my long winded 2 cents.
Yes, I love this! Kendama has had a few crews like this, the WKT guys were one of the originals! Matt Ballard was SO good so long ago, and is still relevant today, having just released a pro mod with KROM. Keith Matsumura is a legend in the game, with KenUSA as a sponsor, he seriously pushed technical play (and lunar consistency) to new levels, yeas and years ago. I remember watching him do UFO lunar just ON LOCK, like 5 years ago. It blew my mind, he could do it like every other try! Then you have guys like Nick Mayo, who (sorta) low key just SHREDDED in the WKT edits, I remember seeing him do stuff like 4 turn lighthouse, or the stilt trick balancing on top of a parking post... tricks that were really pushing the game back then. Zack and Alex Winters were always just the most stoked and nicest guys, and always had a stylish/cheeky trick to lay down. Loomer, Greg, Jacob, just so many good people in their crew! Other crews that were noteable... obviously COTK, the Kengarden crew, Bitter Beans/Kendama TPC, maybe even KE! Haha
COTK stands for Children of the Ken right?? Or did I just make that up? If that's what it stands for, are they partnered with GT? Cause a majority of the bags have COTK on the back of them, what's that all about?? Total noob questions but hey, gotta learn somehow
Yes to the first one, no to the second haha. Nic Stodd's pro models come with a GT bag that has COTK on it. He's just reppin his crew and wanted to put it on the GT bag I'm assuming.
