What gets you guys focused before/during a session? Do you listen to music? Do you meditate beforehand? I personally listen to music when I'm just jamming. But when I'm learning a new trick I try to focus more in silence or the sound of nature in my back yard.
I'm usually watching YouTube videos either on Kendama or my interests, and I just feel like picking up a kendama at that time.
Doesn't take much for me to get focused, really. This morning, i set out to improve my (shitty) juggles, and i spent about 40 mins without audio or visual aid. Just me talking to myself.
I usually just start jamming, and as I lace tricks I start honing in and getting stoked. Also I find if I'm warmed up it helps. For example if I've been sitting for an hour I won't play as well as if I was just walking or being active. Also I play much better outside.
It's always a nice good open area usually under a tree if in public open areas. Definitely music is in it to keep me jamming for hours.
To get focused for a jam I like coffee and good lighting; music I like is a nice addition but not required
Watching edits gives me good vibes and gets me hyped before I start jamming. When I'm alone, I jam without music because I like hearing the natural sounds of the wind, and cars passing by while at my backyard. During events, I feel like the music brings everything (and everyone) together.
