I was wondering how many people in the Dama community play footbag. I've just been getting started into it and it's a lot harder than it looks. Also put a picture of you collection:)

I used slay footbag hard when I was younger, in fact one of my old footbag buddies was the first person who showed me kendama! I remember getting big cup and just kind of forgotten about it till I came across the guy wright pro pill edit on YouTube.

I'm not at home currently, but I'll try and hunt down some of my bags (my bags were hand sewn from my friends in the community) and pull my old quantum footbag shoes out for a photo.

I haven't laced up my shoes for a long time, but I've been thinking about getting back into it.

The footbag community reminds me a lot of the kendama community; close-knit and filled with great minded people.

Very true, I've met so many great people with it.

I even have a tattoo of a footbag on my calf to remind me of all the great times with it.

Plus it's a great workout which is another reason to get back into it.:D

My uncle plays it a lot so that's where I got it from since I'm new I'm still working on it the only thing I really struggle with is outside kicks or clippers any tips cause when I kick it, it goes either really far away or in a weird direction...I have stalls down pretty good

    Much like kendama, practice.
But when it comes to kicks just try and focus on small taps, most people kick it way too hard when they first learn; which causes the bag to go flying out of control.

I mainly played freestyle footbag, so stalling is more common. I have played footbag net though, which is like volleyball; but the bag used in that is larger and has more filler.

During my track season, our coach gave one of the seniors a hacky sack and came up with these games called 21 and G.O.D. . For 21, you take turns for how many taps you can keep the sack in the air, our rule was that when you get to 20, you have to hit it twice and then jump and hit it with your foot behind your opposite leg. And for GOD, it requires 3 people or more. 3 different people have to hit the sack and then it's an all out free for all on the 3rd hit, and whoever grabs it first (can't move from their spot) is allowed to throw it at another person, but everyone else is allowed to move away from the person before they throw. If thrown and somebody catches it, they are now the thrower and can get someone else out. And if someone doesn't catch it, they are out it goes to another round. Until there's 2 people then they far off with the same rules minus 3 different people have to hit it.

Was into this a while back when the hardcore were into how many panels a bag had, what was the fill (sand, pellets, etc), and did you use mink oil or neatsfoot to treat the bag.

We used to burn some serious hours playing but I had dropped it for a while until I saw it show up in a few kendama videos including the one below. Just brought one back for a player here in Manila to try out. I'm hoping he'll come up with something interesting.

Dirt bags were my favorite to play with! My buddy and I basically introduced foot bag to our school and it got so bad that it became banned!
Are you talking about toe snaps?

I was really into hackysack back in high school and college! I met a great group of friends through hackysack. It's a great workout and good exercise. I still play solo occasionally now, but it's not nearly as cool as having a group of buddies to get a game going with. I've been subtly trying to get my students to discover hackysack. Hopefully, when the weather warms, I can get some kids interested it the game. And while I'm at it, kendama too.

We use to play this game called Commando and the rules went like this, similar to the G.O.D. game. You start out with a group of people. Someone "serves" to someone in the circle (which means they throw the sack to their zone so they begin the volley.) That person then has to pass the hacky to a third person who continues the volley. No one can leave the playing area until the sack has been volleyed a combined three times by the first two people. Once it has been touched three times by at least two people you can now kick it at someone and try to get them out. Now the kicker is, if they catch it before it hits the ground and hit the commander back then the commander gets two outs instead of one. Three outs and you have to sit down...last man hacking wins.
