Kendama has definitely made my self confidence, focus and patience improve. It has continued to have a positive effect on my life for almost 3 years now. This positive effect on me from kendama includes meditation, a special connection with nature and other players, happiness, confidence, patience, self improvement and obviously fun! I have also met a lot of great people at the Cotk jams in Portland and I only want to meet more people with the same passion for this awesome skill toy.
Wow what a question. I don't know where to start honestly. I got my first kendama for Christmas after I wanted one for months after seeing this kid at my school have one. I wanted to get on his level and have something to say for myself. Eventually I fell in love with kendama. The simple wooden toy became part of my life honestly. Eventually my collection grew bigger and I loved the feeling of getting a new kendama in the mail every month or so. I now have about 12 and I love them. I take my kendamas with me everywhere I go. At times I feel like I can't progress anymore but the satisfaction of landing a trick after countless tries is so singular and one of a kind. I love spreading kendama to people I know and others. I live in akron Ohio and it's not too big here but I'm planning on creating a north east Ohio club called NEO Kendama! I can't wait to see where Kendama will take me next.
Shoutout Turner Thorne for coming to hang out in Vancouver during his recent roadtrip, and then not complaining when he found out we would be spending a day or two moving the entire Terra workshop to a new location while he was in town Seriously though, Turner is the man!
It may sound ridiculous, but kendama has given me a purpose in life, as well as a drive to find more meaning in life. Before kendama, I was just going through the motions. I was in university, then I was planning on going to graduate school, the getting a job, then living out my life a day at a time. Now, kendama has motivated me to do something with my life; from pushing every day to get better and ace new tricks, I hope to help the Philippine Kendama Community grow in all the ways I can, be it through releasing edits, holding local workshops and events, and even founding my own kendama brand (after I finish my studies and get a secure livelihood, of course). In summary, kendama has given this weary old soul a reason to greet the mornings happily again.
Kendama is helping shape my life. Its challenging me in so many ways. Its making me realize that i can do it if i focus and put my mind to it. Its making me push myself to prove that i can do it. I can do all these INSANE tricks the pros do. Its making me want to practice 24/7. Its making me want to go outside and just shred for hours until my arms and legs are killing me. Its changing who i am and i LOVE every bit of it!
how kendama effected me was it made me into the person i am today. I used to be a huge gamer until I discovered kendama. I get outside more and I have something to look forward in the morning. Kendama is my first pasion it will always be. It also helps me to bring myself to a more challenging hobby. I've been living internationaly for the last year. Ive lived in Inda and the United states. When I was in India, I had no Friends, but one day, I brought my kedama with me to school and it amazed people. . More people bought kendamas and we would play it with each other. I still have friends who play with me and it make me more comfortable in school to know I have close friends who can relate to me. Kendama has effected me in so good ways and im very Thankful for where it has brought me today.
Life changing would probably be an overstatement. But it has definitely helped me in a lot of ways. I've become a very patient person because of kendama and though I'm still competitive, I'm not a sore loser anymore and that has definitely been an improvement (I used to be completely obnoxious). I've always liked to have periods where I keep to myself and doing those times kendama has been a great companion for me. I also find myself actually being happy on other peoples behalf when they land something really hard (i.e. I can't get excited over a spike even if the person is really new to the game, but stilt flip or something is still really cool to me). Overall kendama has helped me to not worry too much about life. I used to get anxious about having to do well in school, getting a great job, making other people proud of me. While I those things are still somewhat important to me, I've learned to have a more relaxed attitude towards it - and that's been a really big improvement.
Kendama has positively affected my life in so many ways. When I first started playing in 2012 i stopped playing video games and went outside with my friends. I was hooked and everyone watched me play so I bought some more damas and got others playing to. The first edit I watched was Colin Sander edit 8 and afterwards my friends and I were destined to make an edit. Kendama has taught me how to keep striving towards a goal as well as to help others with dama tricks. Playing dama has taught me how to not give up on a trick no matter how many hours I've been killing my legs with dama squats. Kendama has brought me community and the feeling to spread the dama love. Since I have so many damas I give them away to incoming players. There's nothing better than getting people involved and making edits with friends and family. Dama on and go outside, nature has so much to offer. Much respect. Keep slayin #kusa
Congrats guys ! Reading these submissions , I would've voted for each as well for completely different reasons . These are the things I love reading ! Truly tells others how great the community is and brings every aspect of kendama to us through experiences ! Much respect to each of you and all here , as we keep the path paved for others to express their love of Kendama in their own way as well !! Thanks DS and TT for the opportunity to share , keep up the good work !
I'd say patience is the number one way in which kendama has positively affected my life. I've become so much more patient with the things I do, with my hobbies and with other people.
