Well I figured they were under different ownerships and at different times but what were the prevailing factors that led to this

Both are made by the same company and person.

Sometime in 2008, Kazuma Iwata decided to discontinue his relationship with the JKA, in order to focus on making brushes (i really believe the real reason is the JKA wants to sell Mugens for really cheap, but keep upholding the high standards Kazuma imposes on his crafts).

Later in 2013, Gloken with the help of people across the world made a plea for Kazuma to return to kendama making.

It is obvious that Kazuma wasn't able to make the same Mugens he once did (because, JKA?) but decided to give in and start making an entirely new series of kendamas, called the Mugen Musou, or Musou as it is known.

Og mugens are some of the most rare damas ever made. Along with shin sakuras. They can fetch a few bills to the right collector. Super hard to come by. But if u get a good deal on one, jump on it. It's an investment though.

Hey all ,not to sound to uninformed, but I've been around Kendamas for some time with my boys now. I have my own collection of damas myself .
I've always wanted to come up with an OG Mugen as well but --> how exactly will I know the difference when shopping around for one . I definitely don't want to be taken . Are there only a few different colors that I should be scouting to know the factual from fake ? Any pictures would be great from a few of you veterans in the game , Sir ? Con , Cheech ? Thanks in advance ! Chris .... also , I will be selling v off a ton of great damas from my personal collection all brand new , soon to invest in the formentioned and other items . Thanks again

@ChrisPChicken the mugen has a teal seal, and the wood grain is an understated horizontal swirl on the sarado. Do not confuse with Meijin, which is a different shade of blue.

The going rate for a new mugen right now seems to be about $250-300. That fluctuates.

common colors are blue, and red. less common are pink and yellow. There are some limited ones, like this red tama with 24k flakes.

This one sold for $1000 no joke

Yea man @Cheech_Sander hit it on the head. You may be able to get a madly seshed one for a bill and some change. That's what I'm looking for. They are premo. for sure. And you prolly know this already from the thread but musous and the og's seals are way different. And there is a new dama that came out recently that has a jka seal a lot like mugen. (Blue) but don't be fooled by those either. @ChrisPChicken
