One of the ways I've loved progressing in Kendama is working my way through battle ladder videos from past competitions. I'll set a timer and see how long it takes me to get through all the tricks (or see how far/what level I can get to). There's so many of these on YouTube, but I'm always looking for more! If you think of any favorites you like to revisit or come across any new ones, post them here! To make this even more fun. If you work your way through one someone else posts, feel free to quote it and post your time or level you got to. Plus, any other details like Kendama used, any modifiers (could be kendama mods or things like left handed...drunk etc haha) Etc!
I don't set a timer, but I use battle ladders once in a while to test my consistency. That Folken ladder is one I always go back to because the guys who got me into kendama used it all the time when they jammed together. Other than that, I'll just search for "kendama battle ladders" on YouTube and try to complete all of the tricks. Pretty much every time I see some sort of battle ladder I'll try to do all of the tricks. One important thing that I choose to do though is only using one kendama for the whole list of tricks, no switching when you need to a lunar and you have a slinger ken or vice versa. Check out @kendamasyndicate_t on instagram for a bunch of ladder tricks. I'm also currently on an on-going mission to do every KWC trick. I have the lists for 2014, 2015, and 2016 and I have various tricks checked off for all three years. Barely finishing up the 2014 though haha
That's what I've been doing too. Force myself to use the same dama for sure. Another one I just stumbled on
Here are some REAL old ones me and the homies made for some contests that the UKA and KE held. Plz excuse spelling mistakes, and funky trick names. These videos are old enough that some of the names that are now established weren't really around yet
Okay, worked my way through Gloken's 2014 ladders. Made it through 1-5, but as I'm going I'm realizing I've learned more advanced moves early but neglected some fundamentals. Gotta take it back to the basics and work on stuff like inward falling ins and handle stalls, those both just get me. As well as any space walk variations too.
Okay here's another fun challenge for you guys. Relatively easy tricks, but let this video load, full screen and try to keep up! No pausing the video. If you can get through all of it, NICE! I missed the moshikame to spike like 5 times hahaha THE WORST! Also, spacewalks are my weakness, had to pause it there too. Good luck!
Worked my way through these tonight, it's crazy the level that 2016 is on vs older ones Made it to level 4.3, but that swap spike took me so long. Headed to bed but want to continue trying those level 4 tricks this weekend for sure, some fun ones in there!
Work your way through these today, see how far you can get Shoutout to @Dwesty , love these tricks man, some really fun, creative and techy ones in the open vid for sure!
