What do you guys think about a monthly kendama box? Like every other monthly box, only you get a kendama and some swag, or some accessories, etc.. Maybe have a "pro box" occasionally, someone like @htimSxelA could decide what goes in the box for that month. Just an idea, thank you for any feedback!
I think this would be a cool idea but I think the price point may be a problem bc so many people have so many $15 jammers they might want a higher quality dama in the box so maybe if a few different kinds were offered it would work well. Maybe with some strings and sticks and a pin and a air freshener or something. I'd be interested.
I've actually talked about this idea with some other people before, it could be cool! Here's a Q: what is the ideal price for a subscription box like that? (Keep in mind the usual retail cost of cool damas) $30? $45? $60? $100 mega box?
Honestly it would have to be like a 30$ max. buying en mass drives down the price, or just getting deals from companies wanting to get rid of old high quality or mid quality damas. Throw in different stickers and pins. Honestly I would probably be down.
$70 or $80 sounds about right. Then it could be like a nice kendama and some swag or a couple mid range kendamas or a mid range and a bunch of cool strings and maybe a tama.
I'm in!! Before I gave up skateboarding from a few serious accidents, I was about to subscribe to Skate Slate. They offer a set of wheels with the Mag. There has been word of starting a kendama zine. Pairing these two together would be great. The thing about getting a "box" is sourcing the damas. From the way things are right now, this would be the most possible through KUSA. They offer the widest variety (jka, KROM, sunrise, etc). @Kendama_Cowboy If you are taking this task on, ask the skate Slate crew how they source the wheels. It might be something like "X" number of wheels in place of an ad payment for a gauranteed "x" number of subscribers or issues sold in the previous month.
I think offering a cheaper box for around $45, that would come with something like a kaizen or prime. Then offer a premium box, prices may vary depending on the dama for that month.
I would be honored to be the person taking this task on, however I don't know the first thing about getting something like this going.
Would DamaBox be too generic of a name? Also what types of products would you like to see in a box like this? I'm trying to design the box, while I put together a list of companies to contact. I'll be doing giveaways the closer this gets to being a reality.
I like it! When I said that this idea has been tossed around before, I wasn't kidding! It might be tough to make it work as a third party, but you certainly could try it out. I think for it to go through proper, you'll need to come off pretty legit though. Especially if its a monthly recurring payment, you'll need to build people's trust that stuff will show up for them each month (not to say you're not trustworthy, but thats just a fact of the matter)
If you're going to include a kendama setup in it, I think it'd be a great idea to include an exclusive premium collab setup. Homegrown, Craft, Slaydawg, GT (1/1.5/NS/KA/BH), etc. Other than that, definitely apparel and accessories. Kendama shirts, water bottles/canteens, drawstring bags/backpacks, kenditioner, earbuds/wireless speakers, holsters, signed pro merch, sunglasses, anything else I missed?
Yeah this would be cool! And for example "in the package will be 2 things from the list: grain theory mug Kenditioner Kendama holder Kendama cap" And maybe if the box is for 85$ there can be one great dama like HG, or two cheaper damas like two kaizens. And giveaway so the community will see that you are legit and will see how the package really looks. Good luck @Kendama_Cowboy !
I would really like to see this come to fruition. But personally I think $85 is a little steep for every month. I don't buy damas that often but i would def. Buy one if I liked what was in it. I also send good luck vibes.
Going back to the damas in the box. You can create "unique" setups. Say sweets sends you 100 primes and KUSA hooks it up with 100 kaizens, then you can take the extra effort to restring/swap tamas. This will give the box the extra wow factor because where we would typically buy two damas to get this done, we only need to get a box from you!
Or even grab nice tamas one month, and nice kens the month afterwards. So some months you get full set ups, and some you get half plus more gear.
