Cheers man. Keep playing around your friends and family and people will wanna join the hype! Some people just take a little bit longer than others ha!
Hi my name is Kyle and I was born in Wickliffe Ohio. I currently love Painesville Ohio which is outside of Cleveland. I've been playing kendama March or April of 2017 so I'm super new to the kendama world. I started off with a few kendamas from Sweets Kendamas then got a Kraizen 2.0 from Kendama USA. I am currently using a sky blue KROM POP and the new PROM BEAMS O.K.. I'm a huge huge fan of the PROM POP. My favorite thing about kendama is playing with friends and lacing new tricks. Oh plus my 2 month old son watches me play and he's super assumed by it so that makes it fun too. Instagram : @cleverly_asinine
Hey yall! My name is Connor and I'm from Portland OR. The first time I saw a kendama was way back in college in like 2011. To be honest, I thought it looked pretty dumb so stayed away. Then I was given a bamboo toysmith kendama for christmas back in 2015. I played with it for a couple days and even landed earth turn and stuff but lost interest kinda fast. Then, back in February I started a new job and the guy I sat next to had a kendama on his desk. Honestly when I saw it, I thought to myself "oh no I'm about to finally get into this damn game." Needless to say, within a month of starting that job, I'd ordered a Kaizen half split and the rest is history. Recently, I've been really wanting to find a community to play with. I know there's a bunch of jams around Portland, but I've always been worried that I'd look like a kook for showing up and not being that good at the game. I've been telling myself that as soon as I get good enough I'll try to seek one out but who knows when that will be. I need yalls encouragement! Anyways, feel free to check out my insta. I don't post much Kendama content there yet but I've been filming some tricks recently so we'll see. Insta: @qonnor Cheers!
dude who was the guy that had the kendama on his desk? kinda curious now haha but glad you ended up giving kendama a chance! If I were you, I would go to the jams! It does not matter the skill level--if you show up to a jam, people will welcome you and jam with you. Playing with others also levels you up pretty quickly, I don't know why, but so many tricks have been unlocked for me when I'm jamming with homies (anyone else who has the opportunity to jam with other people can attest to this). The skill level difference will become a thing of the past in no time. 1-5 @ Chapman Elementary is the only Portland jam I know. The COTK dudes run that jam and they can definitely help you up your game. Stodd is actually the person who taught me how to inward lunar back in 2015 when he was visiting SF. Follow Wyatt Bray, Nic Stodd, Chris June, or Caleb Jeffries on IG to stay up to date on the jams! Glad to have you on Downspike man, now get out to that Portland jam!
I’ve been playing for a month live in marrieta Ga love when people stick crazy trick and the community
This is exactly how I describe kendama to all my old skater friends haha Then I have to quickly add "but way better than fingerboarding/handboarding" cause everyone always brings that up lol
Hey Kendama Fam! My Name is Adam Lindenfelder, I live in Pittsburgh PA, been playing on and off since 2011, but unfortunately am super bad since I kept being hot and cold with Kendama over the years, but I have been going hard for the past 2 months and have no signs of stopping this time. I especially love the Kendama community, no matter when I get the chance to meet any of you guys its nothing but the best experience. My IG is @whirlwind_check
Ditto what Cheech says. @Qonnor actually we have a whole "n00b" secton. It's called "Beginners" and it has a lot of helpful info. A good place to start is this post.
