I landed my first juggle to big cup today! And a few minutes later, I landed my first handle stall! As @htimSxelA would say, I also landed the tricks more than once.
RIght on!! I landed my first 1 turn lunar just the other day. Feels so good to solidly hit a new trick! Go for kenflip juggle to big cup next, so fun.
Thanks. You're an inspiration to me. Watching your videos and progression, makes it seem doable when the tricks cop out. @Ben Lowe
We should turn this into an official LANDED thread. Anytime you dudes lace something new that you're excited about, post it here! I consider myself a little more intermediate than a beginner...but compared to some of the dudes on here, I'm definitely still beginner status. Today I landed a really new fun trick that I'm addicted to now. Penguin, flip to base cup. Super fun and awesome looking trick. You can see it at 1:02 here: I saw Elmo do something similar at the Willows jam recently: https://www.instagram.com/p/BNQWxCbDpdt and fell in love with the look of the trick, but his version was base cup to base cup which is even sicker. I'll have to try it for sure...but gotta master this penguin version first. Jam on dudes!
@Steezdiaz, I love the idea of this thread and I also love the ideas you have been creating through LunaTac! Personally, I have been playing kendama since the end of February of this year so about 9 months, and I would consider myself an intermediate to advanced player. Yesterday though, I was jamming with my friends and I hit a boarders balance flip for the first time! Super hype to land it (made me feel like Turner Thorne from the Japan 2012 Edit). Anyway, keep putting out great ideas man, I think it's absolutely fantastic!
Dang dudeeee. That's so sick. I haven't even gotten like 1 second border balance yet haha Thanks though! We have more ideas in the works that we think you guys will really like!
That's the same for me I landed my frist Bird and in today so I 've tried a speed trick B 5m31s (^o^)
Got back from thanksgiving break and hadn't seen my Ken buddies all week. Naturally as beginners we're still progressing rather fast so a 9 day break from school of course saw much dama improvement. So first Ken sesh post break. I say yo I'm about to try this trick until I get it, lunar flip up to lighthouse, spike j-stick. I can hit all of these tricks no prob other than the lunar to lighty. I go for it and lace the entire thing first try, that trick included my first lunar to lighty. Needless to say me and my friend were both hype. Keep on progressing fellow beginners. Idea: the ds community should make a beginner community video. Each newer Ken player can send in their best couple tricks for the vid and we'll get someone to edit.
Hit a few firsts today during lunch, managed to slap the clips together real quick just now. The 2 turn lighthouse and slinger are super sketchy. Any tips on how to get the 2 turn ken to stay straight? I can keep it pretty straight and lined up with 1 turn, but more than that and it gets crazy. Also any tips on keeping my finger from "walking" down the ken during slingers? -OR- https://www.instagram.com/p/BNaWZSGBS1o/?taken-by=cutthenoise (Also as a side note. Is there a way to embed an instagram video/pic in a post? Or am I making up that I saw someone else do that...) (EDIT: Decided to upload it to Youtube and keep it as unlisted. Good excuse to experiment and see if it is too much trouble or not to get a video embedded directly. Doing this all straight from my phone after all...)
my tips would be to practice just holding the ken and to use only the motion of your finger to make it wrap around. Flipping it a little bit on the release to start the motion will create a false sense of security. It should be only the circular motion of your finger that makes it wrap around. Let me know if that makes sense, helps, or not.
@Ben Lowe a lot of people have asked about instagram embeds. Short answer is No. Longer answer: Instagram from the start was always 100% mobile centric. They don't let people embed content that is hosted by instagram. There are workarounds, like you see in blog posts, but it comes with the branded instagram square "shell" that we all know and love. (or hate). So it screws up the formatting for our video page. Vimeo and YouTube have way friendlier embedding options. So for now stick to those sites and Someday soon you'll be able to upload direct to Downspike from your phone
Awesome! I landed my first underbird & handlestall this week! I've been able to land the trick but always miss the spike. It feels amazing doing new things. I also landed my first spacewalk tradespike last week.
